Northamptonshire Rights & Equality Council

Northamptonshire Rights & Equality Council We aim for a socially cohesive society in which diversity and human rights are recognised, celebrated and valued.

Northamptonshire Rights and Equality Council is a non-profit organization which is dedicated to helping those who have been victims of discrimination in the Northamptonshire area. Northamptonshire REC’s vision is to challenge and eradicate discrimination (both personal and institutional) and prejudice or hostility in all its forms; so that all Northamptonshire’s diverse communities and citizens ca

n enjoy peace, achieve their full potential and live free from injustice. In brief, we campaign for social justice in Northamptonshire in the context of the wider agenda for equalities and human rights. We will undertake this work regardless of race, colour, religion, disability, age, sexuality, transgender status or gender. To do this we:

– support and represent individual victims of discrimination

– support victims of hate incidents and monitor hate incidents

– raise awareness of the rights of individuals not to experience discrimination and to have their human rights upheld.

We need political and moral leadership that is prepared to stand up for everyone in our communities. Leadership that rejects attempts to exploit tragedy for political gain. Leadership that refuses to scapegoat migrants, refugees, Black communities, Muslims, LGBTQ+ people or any other minority group. Leadership that recognises that an attack on one community ultimately weakens us all.

Join us as we come together to remember and honour the life of Harsh*ta Brella. 🕊️

Harsh*ta was just 24 years old when she moved to Corby in 2024, full of hopes, ambitions, and dreams for her future. Tragically, her life was taken far too soon in November 2024.

This memorial service is an opportunity for the community to pay their respects, stand in solidarity with Harsh*ta’s family, and support their ongoing fight for justice. Her sister Sonia, father Satbir Singh, and mother Sudesh will be attending after travelling to the UK for the first time in pursuit of answers and justice for Harsh*ta.

📍 Hazelwood Community Centre, Gainsborough Road, Corby, NN18 0QF
📅 Saturday 23 May 2026
⏰ 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM

Everyone is welcome, whether you knew Harsh*ta personally or simply wish to show your support.

Donations are welcomed to help support Harsh*ta’s family with costs as they continue seeking justice.

Refreshments will be provided.
