Following the pantomime at the Royal & Derngate in Northampton today, we had the pleasure of meeting the amazing presenter on CBeebies. George took time with each member of Down Syndrome Group Northamptonshire individually, showing such kindness and warmth. So friendly and genuine. Thank you, George, for making so many people very happy today 💙

Hello,

We write this email to you to tell you all about an exciting new event being organised in Northamptonshire. This event is the Annual Walk for DSGN (Down Syndrome Group Northamptonshire) - Details attached.

October is Down Syndrome Awareness month, and this year DSGN wants to start a new annual event to help raise awareness and money, so on Sunday 5th October 2025 we are hosting the first annual autumn walk which is inclusive for all.

There are 4 distances, 10km (6.2 miles), 5km (3.1 miles), 2.5km (1.5 miles) and 1km (0.6 miles).

The idea of this event is to make something inclusive for all. No expensive equipment required, we can't guarantee the weather, but we can guarantee fun for all. Whether you are a seasoned walker taking on the 10k challenge, or only able to take short burst of energy on the 1k there's something for all. Walking with like-minded people and marshals (Ramblers Northampton) seeing you over the line.

At the finish line a finishers medal awaits, the Lewis Foundation cafe for refreshments and hot food served by the cube cooking college cruiser. Weather permitting there will be a bouncy castle outdoors and some animal friends to say hello, inside a sensory soft play and quiet area, and local stall holders offering some local goodies. There will be soft background music and hopefully more to announce.

Entry starts at £10 or £12.50 per adult - with the condition that participants will raise sponsorship for DSGN via DSGN - JustGiving - Start Fundraising) and/or we will send a sponsorship form and monies can be donated on the day or via BACS transfer. (Suggested minimum fundraising £50 - Get asking all those friends, family and colleagues).

If you want to walk for fun Entry starts at £20 of £25 per adult - Entry funds will go to DSGN.

Likewise, if you want to raise money for another charity of your choosing, sign up at £20 or £25 and you can arrange your own sponsorship for your own chosen charity or organisation (usually via Just Giving).

All routes start from the ELGAR CENTRE in NORTHAMPTON. The first walk sets off at 9am and details can be found via our booking page walk4dsgn.eventbrite.co.uk or via the QR code attached.

We would love this to become a huge community event where anyone can take part, and as well as raise awareness for Down Syndrome and DSGN but also help other local charities also.

We hope to see you there!
