Favell Day Services provides Day Care and Support for adults with a range of physical and neurological conditions, including but not limited to Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinsons Disease and Strokes. Following the closure of the original ‘Favell House’ on Kettering Road, Northampton in 2013, the service now operates as a charity two times a week at St Luke’s Centre, Main Road, Duston, Northampton on a
Monday and a Wednesday; and on a Friday at Blackthorn Community Centre between 10am-4pm. The objective is to provide a safe meeting place for adults with physical disabilities to get together for mutual support and companionship. Activities are available to join in during the day, together with hot drinks and a ‘Home cooked’ midday meal (for a small cost). The service gives carers respite too, giving them the opportunity to have a few hours for themselves. Activities include crafts, talks, baking, quizzes, group crossword, music, fun exercise, trips out and more. The group is led by the members so there is opportunity for everyone to make suggestions and give feedback. There is an emphasis on health and wellbeing and remaining independent. There is also the opportunity to use our passive exercise bike which can be used from a chair or a wheelchair.
