Moved on to Merseyside and Cheshire region POTY, The Turks Head in St. Helens.
A fantastic old fashioned pub with bar and a lounge and 14, yes 14 excting and brilliantly well kept b**rs.
On our way here we found out that the pub had made it into the Top 4, so well done to them.
Unfortunately our pub The Malt Shovel Tavern didn't make it to the final 4.

Visited The Northumberland Arms in Marple Bridge, NW Region POTY. A smashing, small but friendly community pub serving 5 brilliantly kept b**rs.

We are disappointed to report that we have been informed the Northampton Saints have removed all real ale from the supporters village. We also understand that the Wainwright ale being served in their internal bars is not cask ale but in fact 'fresh ale' drawn through handpumps making it appear as cask ale.

In March 2024, Carlsberg launched ‘Fresh Ale’. These are brewery-conditioned versions of their cask range, which are kegged and served through cask hand pulls.
There are two main issues for cask b**r that we oppose. The dispense method is misleading, which also creates a general threat to cask as the b**r is not cask-conditioned, but the use of ‘Fresh Ale’ marketing implies that it is.

Sightings of 'fresh ale' can be reported to CAMRA via:

A handpump on the bar should mean real cask ale. CAMRA calls on brewers not to mislead drinkers by serving other products through handpumps.

Members can transfer their favourite pubs, b**rs and breweries from the App using a simple import tool.
Instructions on how to do this and the link to the tool can be found on the latest CAMRA Volunteer Bulletin - w/c 28 September 2026, which you should have received by email.

What an afternoon, heavy rock and real ale (and of course great c***r) a match made in heaven, at The Little R'Ale House at Wellingborough station.
A local pub selling local ale with music supplied by a local band, The Black Rose Society. Not to mention food supplied by a local pop up.
