Hi Kings Heath!
It’s been an incredibly busy couple of days down at the shops.
For the first time in a long time, the Community have been able to pull together and start bringing a bit of colour back into the Estate, starting with the shops.
Four new planters have been provided and two of them are currently loaded with soil. These two, are now planted up awaiting for their centre Statement Pieces (yet to be sourced).
The plants range from daffodils, primulas for instant colour, which will be followed through with others like sweet williams, aquilegia’s, dianthus, verbena’s and many more. There are also some sneaky late summer bulbs planted too!
We are awaiting the remaining two planters to be soiled up before we go again.
In the longer term, we are hoping for a larger central planter on the square, which Community Grants are being sought and it is also hoped that some additional borders may be allowed down the centre of Park Drive for some more formal type planting.
It was an absolute pleasure to speak to so many of you who were interested in the plants and how they might grow; what sort of insects, bees and butterflies they are likely to entice.
What we need from you now is for anyone interested in helping shape, inspire and support in future planting sessions, to come forward and make yourselves known. We cannot do this alone and it will be more fun with you!
You don’t even need to know about plants so, if you are interested, or want to learn, step forward. You may get a bit muddy!!!
