Emigrant visits Instow home

When Mr Peter Molland left Instow five years ago and emigrated to the United States to take up farming there he could hardly have realised that his next visit to this country would be in the uniform of the US Army.

Peter completed fourteen days' leave at his home in Instow and has now returned to Germany where his unit, the 41st Division American Engineers, is now stationed.

Peter retains his British nationality and, of course, it is inevitable that he is known as 'Limey' in his Division, the only Englishman among some 40,000 men. Because he wanted to settle down in America where he was farming in Iowa, Peter realised that he had either to return and do his National Service in this country of do his Selective Service with the country of his adoption otherwise complications might arise over his visa.
