CALL OUT 27/2026
Monday 22nd June (1120 hrs)
North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) contacted the team to provide assistance with the extraction of a person who had collapsed in Cowpen Bewley Woodland Park, near Billingham.An off duty doctor was at the scene to provide initial support to the casualty. Both Land Rovers and other members in their own vehicles headed to the country park. The first two members to arrive proceeded on foot to the casualty site to assess the most appropriate route for the extraction. When the first Land Rover arrived at RV, various items of kit were transferred on foot to the casualty site. At the site, the casualty was treated by the ambulance crew and once stable was packaged on the mountain rescue stretcher to be wheeled to the waiting second Land Rover in the park, approximately 500m. The casualty was transferred into the Rover for the drive to the waiting ambulance in the car park.
We wish the casualty a speedy recovery

ANDY PEARSON 'S SPINE 2026
A great effort from Andy in the Spine MRT Challenger North this week. He covered the 160 miles from Hardraw, North Yorkshire to Kirk Yetholm, Scottish Borders along the Pennine Way in 68 hours 54 mins 26 secs.
In Andy's words "Thanks everyone. It was a tough event, brilliantly organised and mainly fun with a few bits of jeopardy and struggle thrown in."

CALL OUT 25/2026
17th June , 1350 hours
The team were contacted by North Yorkshire Police to provide assistance to a person injured on Roseberry Topping. The individual was part of a school group descending on the main path on west side of Roseberry.
The team despatched both Land Rovers to Aireyholme Farm and other members in their own vehicles. From there, personnel were transferred to the casualty site via the Shooting Box.
The individual was treated by a Remote Rescue Medical Technician for a lower leg injury. Once the person's injury was stabilised they were transferred by a Land Rover down to Airyholme Farm, accompanied by a teacher. The school arranged the forward transfer to hospital for further medical assessment
We wish the individual a speedy recovery.
Thanks once again to the Phalp family for the use of Aireyholme Farm to access Roseberry Topping area.

Last weekend ,Redcar Triathlon Club , held a club triathlon race at Ellerton Lake. At the end of the event, competitors were invited to make a donation in exchange for a massage by Dawn Butler of BodyWorks.. £80 in donations were collected and given to the team. Thank you to all who contributed and Dawn for her kind offer to support the operations of the team.

A BUSY SUNDAY (PART 3)
CALL OUT 24/2026 (14 June, 2145 hrs)
As the team were leaving Fryup, a request was received from North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to provide assistance to a person injured in the vicinity of Highciffe Nab above Hutton Village. The first person on scene was a team doctor, who provided immediate care to the person and requested various medical kit to be provided as soon as a Land Rover arrived. As other personnel arrived at the site, the ambulance crew also arrived. The casualty was treated by the medical personnel on site , then packaged in. a vacuum mattress and casualty bag for the stretcher carry to the ambulance approx 100m away.
We wish the person a full and speed recovery.

A BUSY SUNDAY (PART 2)
CALLOUT 23/2026 (14 June, 1930 hrs)
3 hours after the afternoon call out, the team received a request from Yorkshire Ambulance service (YAS) to assist with an injured quad bike rider in the remote Dale Head area of Fryup. Both fully crewed Land Rovers and other members in their own vehicles headed to RV at Dale Head. YAS ambulance crew were with the casualty and provided the medical care. On arrival, the team transferred the stretcher, wheel and additional medical equipment to the site about 500m through woodland and on a moorland path. The person was packaged in the vacuum mattress and the casualty bag before being wheeled on the stretcher back to the ambulance, for onward transfer to hospital.
We wish the person a speedy and full recover.
16 team members were involved for 2 hours. As the team members were leaving Fryup, the 3rd call out for the day was received and we then headed to Hutton village, Guisborough.

A BUSY SUNDAY (PART 1)
CALL OUT 22/2026 (14 June , 1425hrs)
Sunday was a busy day for the team. A few team members were participating in the Cleveland Way relay, 109 miles from Filey to Helmsley. As the relay was progressing in the vicinity of Roseberry Topping / Clay Bank area, the team received the first of 3 call outs. A person had fallen while descending Roseberry Topping and sustained a lower leg injury. The team deployed both fully crewed Land Rovers , along with the people who had completed their leg of the relay and other members to Aireyholme Farm. From the farm, personnel were transferred up to the col from where the required equipment was walked to the casualty site. The casualty was treated by a Remote Rescue Medical Technician. Due to the steep location on the east side of Roseberry, a back up rope was employed for the initial lower of the stretcher to the path, The stretcher was then transferred over the fence to be sledged down the field to a waiting Land Rover. The Rover headed to Aireyholme Farm where the family were waiting to take the casualty for further medical care.
We wish the person a full and quick recovery.

GREAT AYTON VILLAGE FETE
Team members from both the Support and Operational group attended the local village fete in Great Ayton. A lot of people came to the gazebo for a chat about the team 's work, including Rishi Sunak.
Rishi is very supportive of the team and expressed his gratitude for the work undertaken by the team.
This was the first "gazebo set up" event of the year . The first of many fundraising events over the coming summer months.

MONTANE SPINE RACE
This weekend , our team member, Andy Pearson, takes on the MRT Challenge North event , starting on Sunday at 1800hrs from Hardraw, near Hawes. He then tackles the 160 miles on the Pennine Way to Kirk Yetholm in Scotland with a time limit of 90 hours.

MID WEEK TRAINING SESSION
This weeks session was a navigational exercise based around the Black Hambleton area with the team meeting at Square Corner. The members present were split into groups of three or four and given the eight grid references to visit along with a relevant question to answer about the feature at the location. . The aim was to visit as many locations within a specified period of time. If late, back to the RV, a time penalty was incurred. The exercise allowed familiarisation of the area, particularity in Silton Woods.
