Black History Month Reading!

As part of our ongoing commitment to promoting literacy, we are proud to have put together a collection of books celebrating Black British History Month.

Our pupils have enjoyed exploring the collection, discovering new authors and stories and choosing books to read over the half-term break.

We hope these books inspire a love of reading while helping our pupils broaden their knowledge, celebrate diversity and learn more about Black British history and heritage.

Year 10 Art & Photography Visit!

Yesterday, our Year 10 pupils headed into North Shields to explore their local town and gather inspiration for their first GCSE projects.

Armed with cameras, handheld scanners, crystal photography balls, sketchbooks and a range of other creative tools and techniques, pupils explored their surroundings in exciting and imaginative ways.

The visit provided a fantastic opportunity to collect their first pieces of primary research, experiment with different methods of recording and capturing images, and begin developing ideas for their upcoming projects.

Ofsted 2026 - Report Published!

We are thrilled to share with you the findings of our 2026 Ofsted report.

The school was inspected back in September and the results have been a closely guarded secret ever since!

Today, we can officially share with you that the school has been awarded three STRONG and three EXCEPTIONAL gradings, meaning that what we do at Norham needs to be learned from at a national level.

We are exceptionally proud to have been recognised in this way, and we’d like to thank our staff, pupils and families for enabling us to do the work we do.

Year 10 Construction Visit to HICSA!

Our Year 10 Construction pupils recently visited the Housing Innovation & Construction Skills Academy (HICSA) in Sunderland to explore the wider world of skills, training and employment.

HICSA is a specialist training facility that helps prepare the next generation of construction professionals. With industry-standard workshops and facilities, pupils were able to discover more about the exciting opportunities available within the construction and housing industries, including carpentry, electrical installation, plumbing and sustainable construction.

Our pupils particularly loved taking part in the construction team-building activities, where they developed their communication, teamwork and problem-solving skills while having lots of fun!

The visit gave everyone a valuable insight into the wide range of career pathways available beyond school and helped our pupils see how the skills they are developing today can open doors to future opportunities. It was fantastic to see them engaged, enthusiastic and feeling inspired about the wider world of work!

Raising Awareness of Men’s Mental Health

We were delighted to welcome Tom Dickinson, also known as Tom Talks, to our school to raise awareness of men’s mental health and the importance of talking openly about wellbeing.

Tom draws on his own lived experience to work with schools, organisations and teams, promoting resilience, improving mental health and encouraging conversations that can make a real difference.

All of our Year 10 and Year 11 boys took part in an assembly exploring men’s mental health. Following this, a selected group of pupils took part in a one-hour workshop, encouraging them to reflect on what it means to be a man in today’s society, challenge toxic masculinity and consider the importance of positive role models, respect and emotional wellbeing.

We hope these sessions have helped our pupils understand that it’s okay to talk, it’s okay to ask for help, and looking after your mental health is a sign of strength.

A huge thank you to Tom for delivering such important and thought-provoking sessions to our pupils.

Year 7 Triple Decker Sandwiches!

Year 7 have been practising their knife skills to create some fantastic, healthy triple decker sandwiches!

The pupils have been developing their confidence in the kitchen, learning how to handle knives safely, prepare ingredients and layer their fillings to create delicious and colourful sandwiches.

A fantastic effort from everyone, showing great creativity, practical skills and an understanding of the importance of healthy eating.

Inktober has begun!

We’re delighted to see our pupils getting involved in this year’s Inktober, with some fabulous inked sketches already handed in. Their work showcases fantastic mark-making, creativity and experimentation with line, tone and texture.

Founded in 2009 by illustrator Jake Parker, Inktober is a worldwide art challenge that encourages artists to create with ink throughout October, developing their skills and exploring new techniques.

As a school, we’ve been running Inktober for many years, and it remains a firm favourite! It’s wonderful to see so much enthusiasm and creativity from our pupils, and our newest Norham family members in Year 7. We can’t wait to see what else they produce over the coming weeks!
