Another wonderful Battle. Shame William won, but don't worry we will get him next year. Watch until the last 10secs and you can see our valiant standard bearer fighting to the bitter end!

On the hunt...legend has it he is still searching. All the clothes are interpretations of finds from Hedeby/Haithabu. The impression is of a trader following the great army and trading with them when they camped over winter.

Some epic action shots of our warriors showing off their skills at Northumberland Park last weekend. Swords, spears, axes and seaxes were all on display as our combatants fought with grit and determination. A great big thankyou for everyone who came to see us!

Contrary to popular belief, vikings weren't just raiders and pirates. Shocking I know but stay with me.

Trade and commerce were very important and contributed massively to the spread of Nordic influence throughout Europe and beyond. Merchants could be considered very powerful and wealthy in their own right. So too have northern European cultures been influenced by trade from even the Far East via shipping and the famous Silk Road. Arabic coins, cups from China and Byzantine silks have all been found as a part of viking and saxon hoards and grave finds.
