MUSEUM CLOSED THIS WEEKEND

The Waltham Museum of Rural Life and RAF Grimsby Exhibition will be closed this weekend, Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th June.

The steel roof of our 85-year old ex-RAF Nissen Hut is steadily heating the space. Without insulation and having no air conditioning, the inside temperature is currently several degrees hotter that outside. Experience tells us that with the forecast temperatures over the next several days, the temperature inside the Museum is likely to continue to rise.

The Waltham Museum Association management committee has therefore decided to close the museum this weekend for the safety of both our volunteers and visitors.

We hope to be open again the following weekend.

The Windmill, model railway (Sunday), Bensley's Homemade Ice Creams and other retail units will be open - see their pages or websites for details.

Do you know who these people are?

We are looking to identify some villagers from Waltham in this photo. The gentleman in the middle is Harry Jackson, the last blacksmith to have the smithy on Cheapside before it closed in 1968. The other four people are unknown to us at the moment. The original photograph is very small, the upscaled version has much clearer faces but has lost some other details. Any help would be much appreciated.
