Well what a wonderful day we had today with 8 children, Eli and TRex

It was a fresh and bright day, and the children were fantastic.

They recognised emotions in themselves and the horses, came up with coping strategies, took turns, negotiating sharing and swapping, problem solving, following instructions and gave LOTS of hugs!!! Even us humans got lots of hugs!!

We can't wait to see 14 more children on Thursday 💚💚💚💚

💜💜 Come and have fun with Eli and T- Rex 💜💜

HALF TERM EQUINE LEARNING TASTER SESSIONS!!!

Delivered by two highly experienced BACP counsellors, 🌼 Pamela Kirkpatrick 🌼 who specialises in working with children and those on the spectrum, and 🌿 Cara Swanston 🌿 one of only a few fully qualified equine Facilitated psychotherapists in Northern Ireland.

Sessions last for 1hr, and are held on either Monday 12th February and Thursday 15th February just outside Newtownards. (Please indicate day of choice on booking)

Working on:

🐴 Having fun!
🐴 Reading body language
🐴 Working together and taking turns
🐴 Problem solving
🐴 Conquering our fears and learning something new
🐴 Learning about our emotions

Aimed at Primary School children, this is a great opportunity for children to experience a taster of equine facilitated therapy, and how it can bring about amazing change, peacefulness and joy.

Suitable from aged 5yrs upwards. Four children per group.

Cost for the session is £45. We only have very limited slots available so early booking is recommended.

PLEASE NOTE: Equine facilitated therapy does not involve riding. It's working with the horses, brushing, and doing specific exercises and activities 🥰

This week we worked with a young teenage girl.

Her energy levels were quite high, and her carer explained that she had some challenges around focus and keeping calm!!!

Eli and T-Rex were there to help her work through these challenges 💜💜💜💜

🐴 Main Activities:

1. Brushing - rhythm, calm, connected, sensory

2. Working with our energy and learning how to raise and lower our energy levels, together with the horse

From the photos, you can see that at the end, TRex chose to walk with the client, and came alongside her even though he was not in a halter and the freedom to go where he chose. I love moments like this and I think it means so much to the client too, to have the horses walk beside them of their own free will.

Next up Paddy 🐴

I have known Paddy for many years and he is the kindest, gentlest soul

He has a calming influence on all the horses around him, he never gets in a fuss or a flap, and he has the most wonderful fluffy legs and mane.

Paddy is also known to be a lazy lump and can regularly be found snoozing in the field!!

Getting him up from his snooze can sometimes be a challenge 🤣🙈💜

Meet Merlin (aka Golden Boy)

Merlin is just a baby and is learning to settle in to his new home. He is very affectionate and loves a good scratch

We think he is very handsome too 🥰
