Whiteabbey Scouts

Whiteabbey Scouts Scouting group serving the area of Whiteabbey and the surrounding area. New members are welcome. No previous experience is required. Full training will be given.

Scouting offers fun, challenge and adventure everyday to 40,000 youth members both male and female across the country. Offering over 200 different activities from camping and hiking to sailing and canoeing. Scouting helps 6-26 year olds grow in confidence, achieve their full potential and become active members of their communities. Scouting gives children more confidence, responsibility, a broader

set of friends, a chance to pursue things they might not get to do otherwise and an extended family. There are lots of healthy, physical activities and plenty of opportunity to be independent and learn through fun and adventure. Established in April 2015 we now have three sections - Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. We are always on the look out for new volunteers to help as scouters, to help raise money or to help organise events.

Just as we did back in August 2024 in response to the racist attacks in Ballymena, we at 7th Antrim unequivocally condemn the actions of the small section of our society who choose to spread hate and create fear within our minority communities.

We stand against them and loudly and explicitly express our support for those facing intimidation, violence and hatred.

Here at 7th Antrim and throughout our scouting family we stand for hope not hate.

We stand for diversity.
We stand for inclusion.
We support a society that celebrates and is
enriched by its difference.

We welcome the variety of culture, language and faith that our new communities bring to our country and we call on everyone to join us in speaking out and standing up against racism and bigotry.

We encourage others to join the fight against this hatred. Here's how you can.

1. Join the public rally at the City Hall this Saturday at 1pm.

2. Donate to the Anaka Collective, an organisation that supports people and groups affected by racial hatred.

3. Donate to The Migrant Centre NI.

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT.

Play Resource is an incredible service. It collects donations of waste materials from commercial manufacturers and distributes them to schools, youth groups, arts organisations and charities, supporting the creativity of thousands of young people, savings thousands of pounds and reducing landfill.

Our scout group is a member.

Bryson House plan to close the service on 20th June.

Please sign (and share) the petition to raise awareness and help identify a way to keep this invaluable resource open.

Great memories have been laid down after our latest group camp. Thanks to everyone at Gannaway for their great facilities, warm welcome and hospitality and to all our young people who pushed themselves that little bit further. Gannaway, we'll be back!

This week our cubs and beaver scouts hiked up to the top of Cavehill for a stunning view over Belfast Lough.

On the way they learnt about the risks of exposure, giant hog w**d and how to stay safe on the mountain. They learnt how to find shelter using natural terrain and were able to spot a few features of the land around Belfast.

Tonight scouts were in the Antrim Hills, near Scawt Hill, working on following bearings, understanding magnetic declination, aiming off and handrailing.

We were accompanied by skylarks (singing in the bacground) and the most beautiful sunset.
