Today is England's first match.⚽

While many enjoy the game, we know that major football tournaments can see an increase in domestic abuse.

We've created posters to raise awareness and share support. If you're worried about yourself or someone you know, Safer Places is here for you.

THE FINAL SCORE SHOULD NEVER BE FEAR.

🍺 + ⚽ = 😰

During the World Cup, domestic abuse incidents rise.

Win or lose — violence is never part of the game.

Pints shouldn’t mean punches.

14/06/2026

⚽️ At MFCC, we stand for respect on and off the pitch. No game or score is ever an excuse for violence or abuse.

📊 Domestic abuse reports have been shown to rise by up to 38% when England lose during major tournaments.

🏴⚽ Scotland’s game tonight will be filling pubs and venues with fans.

A sticker on the back of a toilet door could be the one place someone can read information about domestic abuse support privately, without being watched.

MFCC provides free support stickers for pubs, shops and businesses. One sticker could show someone there is help out there and give them the courage to reach out.

If you would like to display some information in your pub, club, business, or anywhere with public or staff toilets, get in touch with us.

Good luck to Scotland tonight, and we hope everyone enjoys the game, whether you're watching in the pub, at home, or with friends and family. Please celebrate responsibly, look out for one another, and remember that no result on the pitch is ever a reason to take frustrations out on a partner, family member, or loved one. Everyone deserves to feel safe, before, during, and after the final whistle.

⚽ In football, “KICKING OFF” means the start of the game.

But for some families, a team losing can mean something very different.

During major sporting events, for some people an abusive partner may start “kicking off” at home.

Passion for football or any sport is never an excuse for intimidation, threats, or abuse.

As the World Cup begins, let’s remember to look out for one another 💚
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their own home, win or lose.
