CHANGE OF PLAN!!

Our speaker tonight has unfortunately cancelled, so we will instead be heading to the Elephant and Castle to join in the fun with the Textile Junkies Fashion Show 👗 🧵 🧶 🪩 . The whole evening starts at 6pm but we will be meeting at the Ele at our usual time of 7pm (we have permission to sneak in 😂). Someone from the WI will loiter at the Methodist Church for those who don’t see this or get a message another way. The ticket price will be covered by Newtown WI.

Best laid plans and all that 😮‍💨.

🫖🍸On Thursday 2nd October, join Newtown WI and Morgan's Brew for a tea and gin tasting session.

First session free

7pm, Methodist Church hall, Back Lane Newtown

Love this from our sisters in Essex!

"Men may laugh at the 'little woman', but the time will come, when that Little Woman without tying herself to railings, or knocking off policemen's hats will, simply by making her views known throughout the Institute, be able to demand and get healthful improvements in village life, up and down the land... Use that Power to its full." - Madge Watt

On this WI Day, celebrating 110 years of The Women's Institute, we are celebrating Madge Watt, the Canadian activist who bought The WI to Britain. Let's use our power together as 'little women' and honour her memory.

What an incredible year at the Food Festival! 🌟

Thank you everyone who came along, our fantastic vendors, talented entertainers, dedicated stewards, and our amazing team of volunteers – who have worked tirelessly, not just during the festival but throughout the year, to make this event happen.

A huge thank you also goes to the Town Council for their continued support. Their belief in the festival and the positive impact it brings to the whole community means so much. The festival is more than just an event – it’s a celebration that unites our whole community, showcasing the pride we have in our town and in one another. We couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve created together.

One new trader summed it up perfectly: “What a lovely, happy place Newtown is….”

Here’s to many more years of food, fun, and community spirit in Newtown! ❤️
