Trap Neuter Release
This process is necessary when we come across unsocialised cats living wild with very little human contact.
Safety is most important and we cannot emphasise enough that a humane cat trap is the only way to get the job done. Grabbing a cat with gauntlets can go wrong very quickly as cats will fight back as their flight or fight instinct is triggered.
A true FERAL cat will always hide in the shadows and avoid human contact. They only come out for the food we leave when we have gone.
Then we set the trap with wet cat food or fish to tempt them.
We check traps at dawn and dusk having had a chat with the vet and booked an appointment with the neutering team so everyone is aware and safe. Once the cat is neutered and coming around from the operation they must be released back to their territory and colony. Some people think it’s ok to release somewhere new but that is against the Animal Welfare Act and causes problems for another area. Feeding STRAY cats is also a problem. Most have a home but chance a free meal on unsuspecting neighbours. ALWAYS microchip and register your cat. 🐈 🐈‍⬛ 🐱 Thank you 🐱

and get those pesky toms booked in too. BEFORE IT’S TOO LATE. Please let kitten season be drawing to an end. The demand this year has been beyond. Now we are hearing about single kittens ´found’….

Neuter your Cat month at Trefaldwyn Vets Montgomery. Good to see this information so clearly giving the reasons to neuter your cat in time to avoid unwanted litters being born and to prevent diseases spread when you don’t.
This is the time when some people overlook the next stage after getting a kitten or two.
So many people contact us thinking neutering vouchers are for everyone. There are no grants available anymore. We can only help the cats and kittens in our care. Our adoption fee includes neutering by Cats Protection. If you get your kitten from somewhere else it’s understood you can afford basic health care for them.
We find and help the kittens born in remote areas, living in hedges, dumped or handed over etc there are far too many like this already. We find safe homes where they can be looked after. We are asked far too often to help people who do not qualify for help from a charity where good people donate their money and trust us to help cats in need of homes.
PLEASE don’t EXPECT a
charity to help you. Think before you take on a kitten or two. It’s not the only time you will need to pay for treatment from a vet. We prioritise how we can help cats and kittens born unwanted. The donations are shared equally across the whole of Wales and the UK. The rules are strict. Expect to be asked about your household finances and benefits if you ask a charity for money we will need proof. Tough decisions have to be made to give cats the care and attention they deserve after a poor start in life. On a lighter note I bumped into these two beauties on their holidays. There was a language barrier sadly so none of my cat vocabulary worked! C’est la vie 😼

These three beauties get their second vaccinations soon so ready to go now. Gethin is the sweetest cuddly b&w boy. His sisters are Abbie the tabby who just wants cuddles and Lily w&b is shy at first but equally lovely. Overlooked because of summer holidays sadly. Saved from a horrible future by lovely, helpful country folk who did the right thing at exactly the right time to socialise them and treat for parasites. Talk to Carol to start the adoption process please.

Tabby cat, new to Caersws missing, probably hunkered down waiting for the right moment to go and find her new home once traffic calms. Best time to go and look, shake those Dreamies and listen for a familiar sound. Please check sheds and garages - just in case. Thank you
