Havenmore Hedgehog Rescue

I am training up one of my amazing volunteers to help cover the hospital side of the rescue, if I was ill or had an accident or had to go to family members for something, I need someone to be able to step in and keep the rescue going, having
learn t the knowledge I have.
So we are asking is there any of you who loves hedgehogs, who has a few mornings spare, that would love to be a part of the team of volunteers at Havenmore.
To train up and be a help and support to Teresa who would be in charge if I was not here.
Learning all aspects of hedgehog care, attending a course at Vale Wildlife hospital, which we would fund.
Collecting a sick, injured or orphaned hedgehog, to bring here, or vets. Medicating wound care, feeding hoglets, paper work. Ect., Please if you are interested in this post we would love to hear from you. Ring me please Don t leave messages. Thank you. Rose

Little Peacan is doing so well, still a real big baby compared to other hoglets. He calls out for me when he hears my voice or he sees us pass.
He just loves hands and wants to be held. We only hold him when I clean and feed him then he goes to Rich. He s 225g.

This is a long shot. We know we have wonderful supporters and you all help as you can.
Our car broke down Monday eve. Charged battery and it started Tuesday but shudders, Rich took it to our garage and it s not holding charge. So need fixing, we can t use it. But have to wait until next week for it to go in. It could be a big job.
We know we ve had it a long time since new but we are not in a position to just go and buy a new one.
If any of you have a second car, or a spare that you no longer use and want to sell or know someone who has, please, that is running well and could be used for the rescue,
a small car but good boot or be able to flatten the back is essential for hog bags to potters 4 times a week, delivering hog houses, collecting bags of straw, collecting hogs, ect
I want to get back to driving, so need good visibility and reliable, auto would be a bonus.
It s made us realise that we can t run the rescue without having transport.
So word of mouth is often good. The rescue won t be paying for it as it does not have enough funds, we would, but if anyone would like to help us we would be so grateful, or if anyone had a car to donate to the rescue that would be incredible.
Or if anyone is linked to one of the local car sales and has an ideal car that could help us, or you are free, know your cars, and could check one out for us that would be amazing as we can t even go and look.

Pecan is beautiful little hog.
I think he must have been an only hoglet and mum had looked after him for 8/9 days. He came in and his eyes were shut and still very wobbly, so about 10 days old, had loads of skin to grow into, he was hydrated then fed 2 hourly for the day and 3-4 hourly at night. He came in at 100g so a big baby., chunky legs, but the most loving cuddly hoglet, just wants to cuddle in my hand after feeding, twitches a few times and falls asleep. He almost purr s.
He is now, got eyes open, Whiskers growing, still loves his hand feed but will lap. He really doesn't want puppy mousse.
Today he had his first sniff and taste of moist bites. This is the reaction, he s self anointing, which is specific to hedgehogs.

OK it's hoglet season again.
I had Hazelnut come in who was 86g, she s now 186g, in 10 days.
Then I had 2 little ones yesterday, found in the woods, there were 3 but only 2 found, 105g and 116g Berry and Acorn.
Sadly Berry the lightest one, has died overnight. Found large wounds under her leg and another in groin, looks as though maggots have attacked her.
Now today a little beauty from Llani vets, only 100g eyes still shut, but ears are formed and eyes will be open in a day or two, so 10/12 days old, but a really stocky big hoglet, probably an only baby. Peacan.
If anyone would like to help us with Starter Mousse, Royal canin, gastro puppy mousse, Whiskers kitten, Poultry in jelly, Royal Canin puppy milk, or a donation for us to order it, as we will soon get plenty more hoglets in desperate need, may have to keep them over winter if they don t get big enough to hibernate in the wild.

Rich has just been to Hafren vets Llani as this little beauty was found on the road.
It's Hazelnut, 86g
About 3 weeks old.
After having some fluids, it's tucking in ti puppy formula and puppy mousse.
