An exciting opportunity to join our team here at Oriel Davies!

The Gallery is inviting applications for Relief Visitor Experience Assistants to join its bank staff team, supporting the gallery’s front-of-house, café and public programme activity. The casual zero-hours role involves covering weekends, evenings, holidays and staff sickness, with duties ranging from greeting visitors and supporting exhibitions to assisting with events, retail transactions and café service. Barista experience is welcomed but not essential. The role would suit people with strong customer service and communication skills, an interest in arts and culture, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Welsh language skills are also encouraged.

Applications should include a CV and short covering letter outlining suitability for the role, sent to [email protected].

Pass Something On by Heidi Plant

The current O Dan Y Wyneb exhibition is continuing to expand with the latest addition coming from multi disciplinary artist Heidi Plant.

Gallery visitors are invited to contribute "A joke, a reminder, a truth or a tiny survival tactic" to an ever expanding wall of collage shapes. You are invited to write in Welsh, English or any language you speak.

Heidi says, "I’m interested in the idea of contemporary folk wisdom. The funny, poignant, strange and honest things humans say to help each other through life. I’d love for the work to encourage people of all ages to feel confident contributing their own voice, whether that’s something heartfelt, hilarious, wise, absurd or beautifully ordinary."

Gwilym Bowen Rhys will be sharing his wonderful voice and love of Welsh folk music, language and culture. His workshops are always relaxed and fun - great for anyone looking to connect to Welsh history, to get a grasp on a few Welsh words, or for those who are already Welsh speakers and learners.

Charlotte Woodford loves working with singers of all levels - from complete beginners to seasoned singers. Always full of joy and laughter, you’ll be surprised what a gorgeous sound you achieve together! This workshop will include some well-known pop bangers to put together in simple ways that sound fantastic. Family friendly, ’non-singers’ welcome, come and feel great.

Celebrating Volunteers Week

This week we are celebrating our volunteer team, recognising and giving thanks for the time and support they have given to Oriel Davies Gallery.

Our volunteers are involved in a wide variety of activities.

Volunteer roles include, but are not limited to, exhibition invigilation, workshop support, event support, and gardening. They are a key part of the Oriel Davies team creating a welcoming environment and enhancing the visitor experience.

Our volunteers receive full training and are supported by gallery staff at all times. Oriel Davies is positive about helping individuals to develop their potential.

Would you like to help shape the future of Oriel Davies Gallery? We are looking for new trustees to join the Board of Oriel Davies to help shape the future of the gallery.
