Cree Valley Resilience Team have had a report that members of the public have been offering assistance to people on our behalf during the storm. Please note that all Resilience requests or actions come through the Resilience Coordinator. I received no requests for assistance during the recent storm and no member of the Resilience Team was asked to undertake any duties during this period. I have informed the CVCC chair regarding this issue and will liase with him during the week as to whether to raise this with Police Scotland.

Please keep in mind that any member of CVRT will only act when advised to do so by the Coordinator. If this is the case, the public will be informed that we have been called upon. Please make friends and family aware that may not be on Social Media.

Kind regards

Nicola

About us

The Cree Valley Community Council Resilience Team (CVCCRT) was formed as part of the Wigtownshire Community Resilience Project in Dumfries and Galloway. Following severe snowstorms in 2012, Dumfries and Galloway Local Authority implemented plans to mitigate risks and prepare communities for future emergencies. In conjunction with the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, Community Resilience Teams (CRT) were formed within each of the Community Council areas of Wigtownshire. The project aimed to empower communities to become more resilient by enabling them to identify risks, formulate suitable responses and work in partnership with existing emergency response agencies to overcome adversity.

Our aim in the Cree Valley Community Resilience Team is to >

1 - Reduce the harm from extreme adverse weather and other community emergencies.

2 - Strengthen community engagement and resilience
