⏰ 11:00am – 11:45am | Puppies up to 6 months
Held outside at the Scout Centre, Bluebell Way, Newton Aycliffe, these sessions are carefully designed to help dogs learn appropriate social skills without feeling overwhelmed or pressured.

🐾 What is appropriate socialisation for puppies? 🐾

Many people think socialisation means letting puppies meet as many dogs and people as possible… but that’s actually a myth.

Appropriate socialisation teaches puppies how to feel calm, confident and safe in the world around them — not overwhelmed or over-excited.

Good socialisation includes learning to:

✔ Stay calm around other dogs without n⁶eeding to say hello
✔ Be relaxed around different people (children, hats, coats, mobility aids etc.)
✔ Experience everyday sights and sounds like traffic, bikes and prams
✔ Walk on different surfaces and visit new environments
✔ Look at something new and then choose to check back in with their owner

It’s about building confidence at your puppy’s own pace, in a safe and controlled way.

Socialisation is not:
❌ Meeting every dog
❌ Busy dog-park free-for-alls
❌ Being passed around lots of strangers
❌ Overwhelming “they’ll get used to it” situations

A well-socialised puppy learns:

“I can stay calm and feel safe in new situations.”
