🧵Concentration, frustration, elation - the faces of our Thread Brothers show it all!

These men are doing something incredible, and all jumping in to learn a brand new skill together. From going through the frustrations of getting something wrong or breaking a needle, to joy at finally mastering a new element of sewing, we love seeing their progress.

Recently, the Art Raft group took over the Green Hill Arts gallery 🎨

Complete with a mooch around the latest exhibition 'What the Ground Remembers', the group then made their own drawings inspired by the artwork on display, using charcoal and earth-coloured chalk.

Earlier this week, the attendees at Moretonhampstead Food Club got baking 🧁

They've been busy making carrot cake 🥕 - ready to be iced and eaten at the Big Lunch on Saturday 20th!

Food Club is on every Thursday 9am - 11am at the Moretonhampstead Parish Hall. Pop by for your chance to pick up ingredients, fresh food and household items at an affordable price, as well as try some free tasters and recipe inspiration.

Today we had a stall at the ‘Creating Carer Friendly Communities’ event in Ottery St Mary, giving out information and showing carers how to sign up for MY CARE - an online service which allows you to see all your hospital care details, from test results, to upcoming appointments and letters.

If you're a patient of hospitals in Exeter or Torbay, you could sign up too!

Sewing machines are set up and the brews all prepared for tonight's next Thread Brothers session!

This group is currently running every Thursday evening, in collaboration with .maker, and hosted at the Dartmoor Wool Loft

It warms our hearts every week to see this group of men chatting, laughing, learning and watching the time fly by as they pick up a brand‑new skill together. The creativity and the camaraderie are something special, and we can't wait to see their next creation 🪡✨

🧵And just like that...they're on to making clothes!

This week, the Thread Brothers took a huge leap forward — cutting their very first pattern pieces and diving into garment‑making. Their starter project? Pyjama bottoms stitched from old duvet covers 👖🪡 Sustainable, creative, and seriously impressive.

We are completely in awe of how quickly these men are racing along with their sewing skills. Every session is full of laughter, focus, encouragement, and that brilliant buzz that comes from learning something completely new together.

Here’s to more making, more learning, and more Thread Brothers magic over the next few weeks!
