Today we had a stall at the ‘Creating Carer Friendly Communities’ event in Ottery St Mary, giving out information and showing carers how to sign up for MY CARE - an online service which allows you to see all your hospital care details, from test results, to upcoming appointments and letters.

If you're a patient of hospitals in Exeter or Torbay, you could sign up too!

For more information on this, search for 'MY CARE Devon' online, or head straight to the NHS website here: https://www.royaldevon.nhs.uk/patients-visitors/my-care/

We want to say a big thank you to the Chagford Community Trust, who recently provided us with some more funding to continue delivering our weekly Wellbeing Walks.

Funding like this helps us keep these much‑loved walks going — bringing people together, boosting wellbeing and celebrating our beautiful local area.

Sewing machines are set up and the brews all prepared for tonight's next Thread Brothers session!

This group is currently running every Thursday evening, in collaboration with .maker, and hosted at the Dartmoor Wool Loft

It warms our hearts every week to see this group of men chatting, laughing, learning and watching the time fly by as they pick up a brand‑new skill together. The creativity and the camaraderie are something special, and we can't wait to see their next creation 🪡✨

🧵And just like that...they're on to making clothes!

This week, the Thread Brothers took a huge leap forward — cutting their very first pattern pieces and diving into garment‑making. Their starter project? Pyjama bottoms stitched from old duvet covers 👖🪡 Sustainable, creative, and seriously impressive.

We are completely in awe of how quickly these men are racing along with their sewing skills. Every session is full of laughter, focus, encouragement, and that brilliant buzz that comes from learning something completely new together.

Here’s to more making, more learning, and more Thread Brothers magic over the next few weeks!

A huge shoutout to the Moretonhampstead Community Shed and it's fabulous members⚒️

We're always blown away with the work they do, and this project with Proper Job is just one example - creating a brand new workbench and double sink for Chagford Primary school's Forest School area, making a practical space for outdoor learning and exploration.

Why not join and help out on amazing community projects like this one in the future? To find out more about the shed and how you could get involved, just head to: https://www.wellmoor.org.uk/communityshed

🔨🌱 What Can a Community Build Together? Something Amazing.

From reclaimed materials to real community impact, this project shows what’s possible when people come together with a shared purpose.

A fantastic collaboration between the Mortonhampstead Community Shed and Chagford C of E Primary School has created a superb new workbench and double sink for the school’s Forest School area, providing a practical space for outdoor learning and exploration.

A huge thank you to the Mortonhampstead Community Shed for designing and building the workbench, and to Emanuel Hendry for generously donating the reclaimed timber used in its construction.

The project was coordinated by Proper Job Resource Centre, which also provided the sink units and arranged their delivery.

This is a wonderful example of sustainability, reuse, and community partnership in action—transforming reclaimed materials into a valuable resource for local children and future generations.

Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, skills, materials, and support to make this project a reality. Together, we’re proving that great things happen when communities work together. 💚

🧡 Mental Health Mondays

Every Monday we share tips, resources and organisations that support positive mental health and wellbeing.

Today’s spotlight is on UK Men's Sheds Association — they recently shared these reflections from shedders themselves, showing just how powerful these spaces can be for connection, purpose, friendship and community. It’s a brilliant reminder that sometimes the simplest things — being together, making, chatting — can make the biggest difference 💛

If you’d like to try a Shed yourself, we have our own right here in Moretonhampstead, open to everyone. Find out more at: wellmoor.org.uk/communityshed

The amazing young people from Running Deer Group have been spending time at the Moretonhampstead Community Shed recently — getting hands‑on, supporting ongoing community projects, and bringing their own brilliant ideas to life.

Here is planter which one young person recently made - a fabulous example of practical skills and creativity in action 🌿🧡

🧵 The Thread Brothers have been busy!

For their very first project, the group have all made their own tote bags — in classic Wellmoor orange, no less.

Tote bags are the perfect starter project: simple, confidence‑boosting, and a brilliant way to learn all the sewing basics. And the best part? Everyone walked away with their own piece of handmade Thread Brothers merch 🧡

Huge shout out to .maker for leading this group and sharing his sewing knowledge and enthusiasm, as well as to Devon Partnership NHS Trust and Open Up for their support to make this happen.
