Situated in Dartmoor National Park we are a residential activity centre with a Christian ethos, specialising in outdoor education.

Based at our beautiful estate in the heart of Dartmoor National Park, we provide residential and conference facilities for schools, groups and organisations. As a pioneering outdoor learning provider, we offer a range of quality and tailor-made activities for both children and adults with our fully qualified and dedicated instructors. s for the many schools, youth groups and church groups who visit. Within walking distance of Hound Tor, we are a short drive from Haytor and the picturesque village of Widecombe in the Moor.

Snowdrops looking so pretty around Heatree grounds 🤍

Here some fun facts:
1. Snowdrops’ scientific name is Gallanthus. This means ‘milk flower.’
2. Snowdrops were named after earrings that women wore in the 15th-16th century - not after drops of snow.
3. Snowdrops contain a natural anti-freeze.
4. When temperatures reach 10C and above, the outer petals open up revealing the nectar inside. When the temperature drops the petal shield closes and protects the nectar.
5. Snowdrops are used in medicine to help people. Galantamine extracted from snowdrops is now used in a treatment to slow down dementia in Alzheimer’s disease.
