Our first overnight trip was such a success… we decided to do it all over again! 🙌

This time with a new group, but with the same focus on building confidence, connection, and wellbeing.

Young people took part in mental and physical health workshops, along with outdoor challenges including orienteering and mountain climbing.

A great opportunity to learn, challenge themselves, support each other, and enjoy the outdoors. ⛰️ If you are between 15 and 24 and would like to get involved, contact us!

We believe in meeting young people where they are — building trust, making connections, and encouraging positive opportunities and healthy activities.

Through our engagement work, we support young people to get involved in activities such as boxing, football, crochet, Krav Maga, and much more. These activities help build confidence, friendships, wellbeing, and positive routines.

Our aim is simple: to create safe spaces, positive experiences, and better opportunities for young people in our communities.

We recently had the opportunity to deliver our “Choices and Consequences” programme to Transition Year students at Bush Post Primary School.

The programme gave students the chance to hear powerful real-life stories from speakers with lived experience of addiction, crime, and homelessness, alongside valuable input from a member of An Garda Síochána. The discussions encouraged young people to think about decision-making, personal responsibility, and the impact choices can have on their future.

A sincere thank you to all of our guest speakers for sharing their experiences so openly and honestly, and to the staff and students at Bush Post Primary School for their engagement and warm welcome throughout the programme.

Some photos from our recent residential at Ti Chulainn in Mullaghbawn with young people from Co. Louth.

Over the course of the trip, participants took part in a range of activities focused on both mental and physical wellbeing, including workshops, hiking, football, and group activities. It was a fantastic couple of days full of fun, connection, and positive experiences for everyone involved.

The feedback from participants was brilliant — and there was definitely a big thumbs up for the superb pizza from La Dolce! 🍕😊

Thanks to everyone who took part and helped make the residential such a success.

We were delighted to be invited to the ‘Friends of Bush’ event at Bush Post Primary School on Bank Holiday Monday, 25th May. It was a lovely afternoon with a beautiful lunch, and we really appreciated the recognition and support for the work we do with young people in the community.

Our programme focuses on wellbeing, engagement, and signposting support for young people in rural Co. Louth aged 14–25, helping them connect with opportunities, supports, and positive experiences.

We’re also excited to be planning summer trips and activities for young people. If you’re from Louth and would like to get involved or find out more, please get in touch! 📞 John: 086 2074209

Thank you again to everyone at Bush Post Primary School and the Friends of Bush group for such a warm welcome.

Our 'Border Women' facilitator Ryan was delighted to attend Dromintee Jonesboro Senior Citizens Community Group monthly dance to recruit female participants for oral history recordings.

He was accompanied by Marie McCartan, a participant in the programme, who highlighted the importance of South Armagh women sharing their life stories for future generations, noting how distinctive their experiences have been in this part of the world over the decades. Indeed, Marie has authored two titles 'Down Longfield' and 'On the Border' recounting her own life, as well as that of her mother's, throughout the 20th century in South Armagh.

Thank you to all those signed up on the night, we look forward to collecting and sharing your stories!

If you, or someone you know, is interested in participating, please contact [email protected] to organise a recording session. All those who contribute will be gifted with a CD copy of their own recording that can be used as a family heirloom for future generations.

Funded by the Irish Foreign Ministry Shared Island programme.
