The wee daisy.

Probably one of my favourite wildflowers πŸ’›
It drops its little petals in the evening for a snooze and then lifts them every morning for another day hence its name 'daisy' meaning 'days eye'.

It's an extremely hardy little wildflower that will grow anywhere even in the hardest of ground.

The daisy is incorporated into the logo of Cancer Fund For Children πŸ’› and purposely the petals are not perfectly symmetrical.
Symbolizing that although cancer brings some imperfections, like a daisy everyone can grow wherever they planted even in the hardest of times 🌈

πŸ’™πŸŒˆ

For those who are new to the page I thought it would be worthwhile to share a little of the story behind The Wildflower Meadow.

The meadow was created in memory of a special little boy Daniel who lived just a stones throw from the meadow.

Daniel was diagnosed with a Wilms Tumour in 2017 and passed away in August 2018 aged 5. He faced his illness with so much courage, there was always a beaming smile and of course a 'thumbs up' πŸ‘ Daniel loved the outdoors and so the meadow seemed a fitting way to remember his life in Ballyveagh.

The meadow explodes this time of year with wildlife and colour, it's a peaceful little haven where some have come just to sit, others to paint and some to take photos.

Whatever your reason to visit all we kindly ask is for a little donation towards Cancer Fund for Children. Daniel was able to use the services of this charity during his illness and every single penny raised will help children here in Northern Ireland on their Cancer Journey.

Thank you for your continued support over the years.

πŸŽ‰We''re Open πŸŽ‰

The Wildflower Meadow is now officially open for another season πŸ’›

The meadow has had a very, very tough season for growing and has alot of recovery to make, with little rain it has struggled to bloom but slowly starting to see colour coming through.

We want to encourage the growth and would kindly ask when visiting the meadow you stick to the path πŸ™ This will give the wildflowers the best chance to continue growing as it is in the very early stages of blooming.

A big thank you to Mark and the team at ecoseeds for their advice and generous donation each yearπŸ™Œ

But now it's over to you all, spread the word, tell your friends & family and most of all enjoy the meadow and the peaceful place it is πŸ’™πŸŒˆ

September marks the beginning of childhood cancer awareness month and what better way to show your support.

Every single penny raised makes a massive difference to families here in Northern Ireland supported by Cancer Fund for Children πŸ’›

The meadow has had a very, very tough season for growing and has alot of recovery to make.

We want to encourage the growth and would kindly ask when visiting the meadow you stick to the path πŸ™ This will give the wildflowers the best chance to continue growing as it is in the very early stages of blooming.

A massive thank you to all who helped get the meadow to this stage! There is so much work in its preparation and this wouldn't happen without Marcus and his team from Mourne Landscapes!! They turn up every year without fail 🚜 and it literally wouldn't happen without these men! A big thank you to Mark at ecoseeds his advice and generous donation each year are the reason why the meadow looks so beautiful 🌼🌷⚘
