Capital grants of between £500 and £2,500 will be available to eligible rural community and voluntary organisations and Social Economy Enterprises to support small-scale capital projects that help tackle locally identified issues of rural poverty and/or social isolation.

📣 Reminder 📣 📣

Upcoming opportunity for participants to develop skills and knowledge in community development as a way to tackle health inequalities.

If you’re interested in applying for the Elevate Community Mentoring and Grants programme, this will be an especially useful session to attend and hear about the programme’s key concepts.

You do not have to work within the health sector to take part. Elevate focuses on the 'bigger picture' of health inequality and how health is impacted by wider societal factors, such as your income, where you live, your gender identity, sexuality, and socioeconomic status. See previous participant feedback below. 👇

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and the theme is 'Take Action'. It's an apt prompt for the current conditions of mental health services today, and it reflects the mentality shared by the participants of our Voice Equality Experience Power (VEEP) residential, which took place last Wednesday and Thursday.

The residential provided participants with an opportunity to reflect on VEEP’s collective response to date, and to discuss the further action needed to advance a community development agenda for mental health equity across the island of Ireland.

Workshops were led by CDHN Director Joanne Vance and National Director of Community Work Ireland, Rachel Doyle.

The success of this event was made possible by our partners Community Work Ireland and funders Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Ireland, along with our participants, who all shared a willingness to engage and a strong vision: "uniting communities to end health inequalities and poverty for all."

See the video below from CDHN Board Member and VEEP participant, Lyn Donnelly talking about her experience with VEEP, and keep an eye on our socials for further VEEP updates.
