I am very pleased with the result from the WI dressmaking workshop I attended at Chy Noweth on Monday. I took apart an old pair of trousers, and made a reusable pattern to create a new pair. Just pull ons, with elastic waist, and they fit! The photo looks like the fabric is black and beige, but it is actually blue. They just need the hems pressing.

I thoroughly recommend the events that County put on for us. It was great fun, inexpensive and productive.

On Thursday a group of 14 of us had a lovely afternoon out at the Cornish Lavender farm near Perranporth.

We started with a talk from Tina, the owner, who explained about the different types of lavender and their medicinal uses, and told us how the distillation process for the essential oils worked. We then had a cream tea of lavender scones (yes, you can use it in baking too!), followed by a walk around the field, and a shop visit.

We thoroughly recommend this as a morning, or afternoon outing. And we didn’t get hardly wet at all.
