What a fantastic opportunity to represent the Branch this morning at Westminster Abbey for the Battle of Britain service and rededication. Lovely for Karen and I to meet up with former Station Commander Helen Simpson and husband Roddy and then AVM “Rosey” Rose with Alanna. We then joined new Station Commander Wg Cdr Gareth Elliott and his wife, SWO Darrel Keane, Debs, Tara, Spud and Ingrid for the main service.

Possibly one of the very few to photograph the flypast that came in 3 minutes early and cleverly disguised as two Typhoons rather than the BBMF we were all expecting. Photographers habits die hard !!!

A lovely morning and my thanks + a-lot more I am sure to Stn Commander Gareth Elliott for generously allowing the roll over invite we were unable to take last year.

Off to meet up with founder chair Steve Richards and Carolyn this evening at the RAF Club for dinner.

Sunday saw the branch join fellow veterans, members of the public and serving members of the Royal Air Force at RAF St Mawgan come together in a service of remembrance at St Eval Church for the 86th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

The service was led by the Branch Padre, Rev ( Wing Commander retired ) Andrew Turner. The reading was given by RAF St Mawgan Station Commander Wing Commander Gareth Elliot with our Chairman Chris Cox leading the act of remembrance.

The St Mawgan Military Wife's Choir entertained prior to the service and added much to our own efforts during the hymns !

A very moving service and our thanks to all that not only took part but to all those that attended. Special thanks to our four Standard Bearers.

Photos credited to Station Photographer Tom who we are grateful to for their use.

The branch are proud to have facilitated a bucket list "tick of the box" for RAF Veteran Bob had one final wish to get into the air and relive old times flying over the county he was stationed at whilst he had been serving in the RAF many years ago.

For over 90 years the RAF Association has championed a simple belief - that no member of the RAF Community should ever be left without the help they need.

So for the RAF St Mawgan Branch, the need was identified and our team made the necessary arrangements with our good friend, and another RAF Veteran, Carl to give Bob a spin around the County of Cornwall one last time. The fact that the flight took place at the former, and only, Fighter Command Station in Cornwall, RAF Perranporth added to the day.

Gladly we counted one up and counted one down, with no "wizzard prangs" to report :-)
