Make Space begins tomorrow ….

Tomorrow afternoon we’re launching Make Space — a new monthly creative gathering at the Tube.

Inspired by the themes we’re exploring through our Imaging the Story series, it’s a couple of hours to slow down, experiment, make, reflect and see where your curiosity takes you. Our first session will explore the theme ‘Creation’.

This isn’t an art class and you definitely don’t need to think of yourself as “creative”. There’ll be materials and ideas to get you started, plenty of freedom to do your own thing — and time for conversation along the way.

Come for the creativity, the company, or simply to make a little space in your week.

After the success of our first co-working day Tubestation Polzeath we're making it official! Every Tuesday, 10am - 3pm, a space for focus and quiet conversation. As always coffee from Rising Ground: The Outlet and cakes from Prim to keep you fuelled!
Primote for families: we love welcoming all ages to Tubestation, but work hub Tuesdays are designed as a quiet, adult working environment, so we ask the little ones to sit this one out. We will have plenty of other opportunities throughout the year for families to hang out at Tubestation together!

New Series….

Our Imaging the Story journey begins this Sunday as we welcome Karen Case-Green, co-author of Imaging the Story with Gill C. Sakakini, to lead our first session.

Following Caroline’s introduction earlier this month, we begin with CREATION — exploring the biblical story through imagination, reflection and creativity, and seeing what we might discover when we look at familiar stories from a different perspective.

From gloop to glory!

There’s something extraordinary about a butterfly.

Inside the chrysalis, the caterpillar doesn’t simply grow wings. Much of its old body breaks down into something almost unrecognisable before it is reorganised into something completely new.

Which feels like quite a thought for those seasons when life seems messy, uncertain or undone.

Perhaps transformation doesn’t always look beautiful while it’s happening. Perhaps sometimes the gloop is part of the becoming.

In this week’s Poeming the Year, Pastor Caroline notices one butterfly on a warm September day — a small, gentle reminder of grace, resilience and new life.

From 13th –19th September, Polzeath Resonance brings together film, music, art, walking, food and sound for a grassroots celebration of this rather special corner of North Cornwall.

Created by local artist Bill Bartlett , events will be happening across Polzeath and Wadebridge throughout the week — and we’re really pleased to be partnering with Bill, opening up the Tube as a space for people to gather, create, share and connect.

You’ll find everything from a Mystery Walk and a day celebrating local art and photography, to the immersive Polzeath Sonic Sanctuary — and on Friday 18th September at 6pm, we’ll be gathering for a Community Potluck & Film Competition Showcase. Bring something to share, pull up a chair and enjoy locally made films on the big screen. 🎬🍲

Most community events are FREE / Pay What You Can, and you can dip into as much or as little of the week as you fancy.

Come for the films. Come for the walks. Come for the food. Come for the unexpected.

Poeming the Year | Coracle

This week’s poem from Caroline takes us out onto the water in something small and simple — a coracle. Light enough to be carried, strong enough to carry us, and made not to master the currents but to move with them.

It’s an image that feels particularly fitting for us at Tubestation as part of the growing Coracle Circuit — different communities travelling together, each with our own shape and story, learning to trust where God might be carrying us next.

Perhaps there’s an invitation here for all of us: to loosen our grip on certainty, travel a little lighter, and trust that what we have is sufficient for the journey.

Collect of the Coracle

God of tide and tenderness, steady my heart in love and soften my steps with compassion.
Where I would control, teach me to trust.
Where I would rush, teach me to listen.
Where I would harden, teach me to open.
Carry my small coracle this day upon your living ocean of grace.
Amen.

Make Tuesday your workday at Tubestation. From next week Tubestation will be open as a relaxed workspace every Tuesday during term time from 10am until 3pm. We'll be serving Rising Ground: The Outlet barista coffee and Prim cakes. No need to booPrimust turn up and find a spot.
