Learning first aid is about more than gaining a qualification. It’s about developing the knowledge and confidence to help when it matters.

Through training and practical scenarios, cadets learn to work together, communicate clearly and take responsibility. These are valuable skills they carry beyond the Squadron and into everyday life.

For today’s National Cadets Week theme, “Cadets Save Lives”, we’re recognising the effort our cadets put into learning these skills and the staff who support their training.

We’re proud to see our young people developing the confidence to help others.

Behind every cadet opportunity are people who choose to give their time to make it happen.

Today, we’re celebrating our volunteer staff and Civilian Committee.

Our staff plan and deliver training, organise activities, support cadets through challenges and help them recognise what they can achieve. Much of that work takes place outside parade nights, quietly and without fuss.

Our Civilian Committee provides vital support through fundraising and practical help, helping turn opportunities into experiences our cadets can enjoy.

To everyone who volunteers for our Squadron: thank you. Your commitment makes a lasting difference to our cadets and the future of the Squadron.

Being a cadet is about more than what happens on a parade night. It’s also about making a positive difference beyond the Squadron.

Whether supporting local events, taking part in remembrance activities, fundraising or helping others, cadets learn the value of service and the importance of playing their part in the community.

We’re proud of the enthusiasm and respect our cadets bring to these opportunities, supported by our staff, Civilian Committee and families.

Today marks the start of the first-ever National Cadets Week, celebrating the opportunities, achievements and community spirit that make the cadet movement so special.

We’re proud of our cadets and everything they bring to our Squadron: enthusiasm, determination, teamwork and a willingness to challenge themselves.

Behind every opportunity is a team effort. Our volunteer staff give their time and expertise, our Civilian Committee helps fund and support our activities, and our families make those opportunities possible through lifts, encouragement and support at home.

Throughout the week, we’ll be celebrating all those who make our Squadron what it is, with our cadets at the heart of it.

This week, our Padre visited the Squadron to help prepare our cadets for enrolment and formally welcome four new cadets into the Sqn.

During their enrolment, the four cadets made their Cadet Promise alongside the rest of the Squadron, marking an important milestone in their cadet journey.

Congratulations to our newly enrolled cadets, and thank you to our Padre for supporting them on this special occasion. We’re proud to have you as part of the Squadron and look forward to seeing what you achieve.

After five fantastic years, it’s time to say goodbye to CWO Budziszewski

Thank you for all your hard work, dedication and commitment throughout your cadet journey. From joining in 2021 to achieving the rank of Cadet Warrant Officer, you have been a highly valued member of the squadron and will be greatly missed.

We’re delighted to see you taking the next step in your journey, heading to the University of Lincoln to study History. It’s an exciting opportunity, and we wish you every success with your studies and for the future.

Thank you to Cpl J, who attended the Battle of Britain Service at St Eval today and proudly carried our banner.

The service commemorates the courage and sacrifice of those who defended Britain during a pivotal moment in the Second World War, helping to secure the freedoms we continue to enjoy today.
