Remembering Cornish heroes of the 1549 rising in a bi-lingual service of commemoration.
A reminder that the annual commemoration for the 1549 Western Uprising, also known as the Prayer Book Rebellion, takes place this Sunday 16th August. There is a bi-lingual church service at St Petroc's Church, Bodmin starting at 3:00pm.
We will remember amongst the some 5,000 Cornish folk who died those executed, died in battle and the 900 men who as prisoners were murdered by having their throats cut. Hosted by Bodmin Old Cornwall Society all are welcome. Cornish organisations please bring your banners and flags to join in the procession around the church.
The Cornish people are strong in spirit, along with the peoples of the other Celtic nations. All our Celtic nations have suffered repression and the battles continue. As we fight for meaningful devolution Kernow will not be subsumed and have our history forgotten and our cultural heritage lost.
