Remembering Cornish heroes of the 1549 rising in a bi-lingual service of commemoration.

A reminder that the annual commemoration for the 1549 Western Uprising, also known as the Prayer Book Rebellion, takes place this Sunday 16th August. There is a bi-lingual church service at St Petroc's Church, Bodmin starting at 3:00pm.

We will remember amongst the some 5,000 Cornish folk who died those executed, died in battle and the 900 men who as prisoners were murdered by having their throats cut. Hosted by Bodmin Old Cornwall Society all are welcome. Cornish organisations please bring your banners and flags to join in the procession around the church.

The Cornish people are strong in spirit, along with the peoples of the other Celtic nations. All our Celtic nations have suffered repression and the battles continue. As we fight for meaningful devolution Kernow will not be subsumed and have our history forgotten and our cultural heritage lost.

Perran Moon for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle is the most proactive of Kernow's Labour MP's fighting for Cornish devolution. He recently attended the Festival Interceltique de Lorient. Well done to the team from Kernow. Kernow must whereever possible create opportunities for interaction with other Celtic nations. This is good for sharing our cultural heritages and also our mutiual economies.

It was great to see the Celtic nations represented by Alba at the recent World Cup. Now Cymru has been at the forefront with the Football Association of Wales being the first in withdrawing its support for FIFA president Gianni Infantino’s re-election.

Infantino has suffered from an extreme case of hubris. He has made numerous decisions against football's best interest for his own self agrandisment and in deep brown nosing his mate Donald Trump. Peace Prize, what a laugh!

Well done to Celtic nation Cymru's football association for beiing the first to stand and be counted against this objectionable prideful arrogant man, unfit to head FIFA. The Cymru Dragon has spoken!

More Cornish town commemorating local heroes who died for Kernow. Let's have some more local Celtic heroes from other nations shared. We all should know more about wider Celtic national history, even about lesser known people who may have given their lives for their nations cause.

For a number of years now two leaders of the 1497 Cornish uprising against the unfair double tax of Henry VII have been remembered each year on 27th June. Michael Joseph An Gof at St Keverne and Thomas Flamank at Bodmin.

For the second year now, in addition to these two, a leader from Camborne, John Rosewarne is being remembered. The
commemoration will involve a march by the children of the town starting at St Meriadoc Middle School at 11.00am. The march will end at the Parish Church where speeches will be made by a number of dignitaries followed by refreshments in the church hall for the children.

During and after the march the children will be singing a song in
Cornish which they have learnt, a marching song written and composed by the late Richard Gendall.

There were a number of named leaders involved in the 1497 uprising and it is hoped that in the future other towns will embrace their local one. Celtic Nation Kernow support all efforts to remember, share and promote Kernow's history and heritage. Let's not forget our Cornish hero's from past times.

All the political administrations of the Celtic nations should be driving forward increased use of their national Celtic languages. This is one of the main cultural factors that differentiates The UK Celtic nations from England and in the case of Breizh France.

Kernow is now pushing forward an ambitious programme. We await publication of the final strategy in July. The influential Cornish language group Agan Tavas have already submitted their response. More information and links on the Celtic Nation Kernow website.

Kernewek, the Cornish language, is experiencing a remarkable resurgence appearing in everyday life in ways that would have been hard to imagine a generation ago. It needs to be increasingly driven forward.

Kernow's fight continues against a backtracking Labour Westminster government. Kernow and its own Celtic cultural heritage is not appreciated at Westminster and remains under threat of a potential merger with an English authority. Kernow's people will never ever accept that. Kernow Bys Vykken! 〓〓

Meur ras / Thank you to all those folk who have signed up to this petition in support of a Kernow tick box on the 2031 census. The mutual support of the peoples from throughout the Celtic nations is important. Kernow needs to get 100,000 signatures to force the Westminster UK government to debate this. They will no doubt avoid giving the Cornish people what they deserve.

Please sign the petition if you've not already done so by clicking the link below.
