St Vincent's Shop Commercial Street, Newport Our aim is to tackle poverty in all its forms through the provision of practical assistance to those in need.

A charity shop, right on the high street of Newport, offering our local community affordable, sustainable quality. The concept of need is broader than financial hardship, so visiting people who are sick, lonely, in prison, or suffering from addiction is also a significant portion of our work. The essence of our work is person-to-person contact, and spending time with people is our greatest gift. Our 10,000 volunteer members, motivated by their faith, are committed to meaningful and long-term befriending. Inspired by the message of the Gospels, they seek and find those in need and offer them sincere friendship. They visit them in their homes, in hospital and in care homes regularly and offer additional practical support such as food, furniture or financial help where needed. They also organise trips and events for older and isolated people. We offer friendship and practical help to all we visit, without regard to faith, ethnicity, status or sexual orientation. As we visit people in their homes, we have strict safeguarding policies and procedures, and all visiting members must hold a DBS certificate. Our core friendship service is complemented by additional areas of activity – community support projects (including community shops, furniture stores and advice centres), youth work, holiday provision and overseas aid.

It is that time of year once more, when the kids have gone back to school for the autumn term. And while thoughts are turning to getting ready for Christmas for many, this can look different for so many of us.

One thing we do know at St Vincent's Shops, this usually means a good sort-out in preparation for the coming festivities.

At St Vincent's Shops, we are always happy to receive your good-quality, clean donations at any one of our shops. And your donations are greatly appreciated by the SVP. 💙

We politely request that you do not leave items unattended outside our shops, and especially out of hours. This is classed as fly-tipping. Items left unattended due to health and safety unfortunately can not be sorted by our shops and then creates wastage, which must be disposed of responsibly. The council may also choose to issue a fine if you are seen to be fly-tipping. So let's donate responsibly, thank you!💙

Good morning all from a very wet Newport, we don't let the rain stop us in the Port. We are open as usual, so why not pop in and shelter from the weather, we have plenty of autumn/winter coats and more, just added to the shop floor!
