I fu**ed up. I was supposed to post an update over a week ago but completely forgot about you.

I came home a few weeks back to wash myself and my stuff after three consecutive mornings of waking up in puddles. The morning after I got home my feet kept swelling up like balloons, and they kept doing so every day for over 3 weeks.

It took that long for me to hear back from a doctor who just told me to take pills for any pain or swelling. At that point I only had a week until the deadline I’d set and there’s no chance of getting the south coast done in a week, with or without daps.

So, I called it at Goodwick, from Chester, 486 miles walked, 297 miles bare, over 32 days moving.

The reason I was supposed to post this last week was firstly because prior to that I didn’t have a useful update to give & secondly to say that I’d be keeping the fundraiser open for a couple more weeks since a few people had said they’re waiting to make a donation. I’ll give it about a week and i’ll be shutting shop and sending it over to FareShare.

Thank you to everyone who got involved digitally and those I met along the way who helped make this walk what it was, it was an experience to say the least.

With that, I’m off to the caves to prepare for the next one.

Mar sin leibh an-dràsta, fother muckers 👋🏼

⛰️ With my arrival in Poppit Sands, I can now decree North Wales - CONQUERED. West Wales - CONQUERED. As I am officially back in the south, attempting to psych myself up to tackle Rock Lesnar aka Pembrokeshire.

⏳Today I also surpassed the halfway mark, with now 412 of 870 miles remaining until my arrival in Chepstow and completion of this challenge. As it stands we are at 458 miles walked with 274 of those barefoot. (and I smell like an abandoned farmhouse).

📡 Service has been terrible since I arrived in Pembrokeshire so anticipating this to be a recurring theme through this section. I’ll update when I can.

(Days 28-30) Aberystwyth to Poppit Sands ✅

🤦🏻‍♂️ It’s been an eventful few days…

🪫I got into Aberaeron from Aberystwyth on Sunday afternoon, going door to door to find somewhere to charge my power banks and ended up leaving them with Aberaeron John (he looked like a John).

🍻 Then after a long wait, I found myself overly indulged in Cruz Campo with a number of rather hospitable locals in Tafarn Cadwgan - to the end that I was found asleep in the town square. Luckily, I was taken in by Nath and his Mamgu (shoutout to them).

🛌 Come Monday morning, I was generously dropped back off in Aberaeron to continue my walk to Cwmtydu (after of course sleeping off my hangover in a field).

🔋Tuesday then was a struggle, through various showers and backroads, whilst ones knees were weak, ones arms were heavy and one surely still had vomit on his sweater from Sunday, I trickled on to Cardigan - eventually bracing the final few miles of the Ceredigion section to Poppit Sands.

🙏🏻 A big thank you to Tafarn Cadwgan for their cash donations today. A tremendously wholesome welcome and heartfelt level of support from staff and locals alike.

🍽️ It is genuinely so touching to be reminded of how supportive and attentive the general public really are for causes such as this.

(Day 27) Machynlleth to Aberystwyth ✅

🎪 After discovering on arrival that Saturday is Machynlleth carnival, I decided that Machynlleth is not the place to rest on this day, and so we strode at dawn along Dyfi Valley Way.

🌳 This was a hefty day - A vegans dream, just GREEN everywhere - until I made it back onto the coast, in Borth.

⛰️ Once again, submerged in GREEN we (myself and the DAWGS) were marching with the most punctilious two step one could imagine baring witness to amongst the peaks and troughs of the cliffs and valleys.

🏰 I’ve passed through Aberystwyth, so I am currently almost virtually back in the sticks away from water sources so I doubt tomorrow will be a rest day - but I’ve once again earned my tea tonight.

(Day 26) Llwyngwril to Machynlleth ✅

☑️ Struggling today energy wise, sleep hasn’t been great the last couple of days, which has helped me bridge the gap and get some extra miles in, but I’ve finally finished the Llŷn & Snowdonia Coast. As serene as this section was, a small part is glad it’s behind me. I’ve never felt more english in my life. We southerners need to up our game, for the culture. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

👣 Arriving in Machylleth we are at 383 miles, 230 barefoot… aside from some tenderness on my heels where they’re beginning to tighten up, my feet feel great. Can never be too sure but I’m confident we’re past the risk of sepsis now with this amount of conditioning. 😎

☁️ This stretch was a slight dip, weather wise, with the last two days feeling like a tropical getaway. Grey skies, low tides and the odd shower here and there… and yet the beaches were still packed. British perseverance should be studied.

😴 Still undecided yet, see how I feel in the morning, but I’m feeling right now that tomorrow will be a rest day before I kick start Ceredigion.

(Days 24 & 25) Criccieth to Llwyngwril ✅

🌒 Apologies for delaying this update, I didn’t pitch up until after dark last night.

🏰 Day 24, hump day, I crossed the hump and made it off the Llŷn Peninsula, marching into Harlech from Criccieth. It was a diary of a mad man kind of day - which is fitting because I can feel myself getting loopier and loopier.

🏖️ After a camp on by far the best beach (so far), day 25 was then another long day headed towards Barmouth. I fell asleep on Barmouth beach but ended up in Llwyngwril just as the sun was setting. Proper perky little village is Llwyngwril, even the shopkeeper is a crochet. 🧶

(Day 23) Hell’s Mouth to Criccieth ✅

Yeah… this one was long. The passport says 30 miles, I don’t believe that’s the total for one minute but this was a stretch. I’ve earned my sleep tonight.

☑️ I’ll be finished on the Llŷn Peninsula tomorrow, hope to get the Snowdonia coast finished by Friday and then we’re on to Ceredigion over the weekend.

👣 317 miles walked in total, 191 miles walked barefoot, 553 miles to go.
