As we approach the end of the week, Georgia is again on our minds. Georgians are heading to polls this weekend in another consequential election for the country’s democracy and European future.

The upcoming municipal elections are contentious!

❌ Boycotted by several opposition parties that refused to participate in the process, refusing to grant any legitimacy to a system which is viewed as deeply rigged.

‼ Likely fraudulent since these elections take place against the backdrop of systemic democratic backsliding and hundreds of days of protests

👀 Not observed by credible local and international observers.

These elections are not about local governance only. Their stakes cannot be higher since the government has already massively derailed the country's European aspirations through systemic repression, harassment, and the suppression of all checks and balances.

We stand in full solidarity with our colleagues in Georgia, brave citizens, activists, journalists and civil society organizations who continue to demand a European future for Georgia!
