And then there were two... π¦π
Our second wild barn owl chick arrived into our care last week after being found alone and unable to fend for itself.
Before coming to us, the tiny youngster spent a
night with The Carisbrooke Vets receiving much-needed fluids and supportive care. Once stable enough, he was passed into our team's care for rehabilitation.
When this little one first arrived, he was incredibly weak and shut down. π
Our team were very concerned, and for the first few days it really was touch and go.
Feeding was especially challenging, as he simply didn't seem to have the strength or instinct to swallow.
But with round-the-clock care, perseverance, and a whole lot of TLC, we're delighted to say this little fighter has started to turn a corner. π
We're so happy to report that he is now eating independently and has even joined our first rescued barn owl chick in the indoor flight aviary, where the pair can continue to grow and develop together before one day returning to the wild.πͺ
Updates to follow on these two wild babies!
