Bettws Early Learning Community

Bettws Early Learning Community We are working intensively in Bettws, Newport, where we are developing partnerships to improve the ea

We're bringing together Health Workers, Schools, the Voluntary Sector and local governments to make sure there are no gaps for children to fall through. We're joining forces with these Partners to come up with a plan for local communities. Together, we're making sure children are getting the support they need and that they grow up in a place they can be proud of. Save the Children established the

'Bettws Early Learning Community' in 2018. Our mission in the UK is to contribute to a significant & sustained improvement in early learning for young children growing up in poverty, helping to narrow the gap between poor children and their better-off peers. The evidence tells us these three factors have the biggest impact on transforming children's early learning, especially children growing up in poverty:

Home Learning Environment - We work with parents, and give them the tools they need to create a healthy Home Learning Environment, which is essential for early years development. Access to Quality Pre-School, School & Community Educational Services - and strong parental engagement with this. Reducing the Impact of Material Deprivation - Parental stress and deprivation impacts early development. The daily struggle of making ends meet means there's less time and head space for playing and supporting early years education & development.
