☀️ Heatwave Guidance at The Place☀️

We’re open and it’s business as usual following the Met Office amber heat alert.
Our building stays cool and we’ve got fresh water on tap, so do come and enjoy workshops, events and a cool place to chill this week.

That said, please put your wellbeing first:
• Stay hydrated 💧
• Take it easy in the heat
• Only travel or attend if you feel comfortable doing so

Be sure to check in on people in your community who live alone, especially those who are considered vulnerable - they may just need an extra hand.

Kiddos and doggos need to be kept cool too with lots of water & kept in the cool.

Any last-minute updates from us will be shared by email, social media, and WhatsApp, so do keep an eye out.

A very special way to spend a rainy Saturday with family & friends ✈️🥤💡🦺🔬

A huge thank you to Dr Venkat for volunteering his time and giving us a special talk about Science & Storytelling to visitors - we learnt about how temperature works, how potholes are made, why clocks move clockwise what colours to wear in the sunshine to stay cool... and that's it's perfectly fine to tell people when you don't know something 🤓

Much was learnt by big and little scientists alike! We hope we can do more events like this in future.

Shout out to Doodles & Doughnuts today whose latest session saw them making characters out of art scraps 👀

Inspired by artist Margaret Sturton, the young people explored 2D character drawing using found shapes and forms. The young people then chose whether to share their characters in a zone or flat on a page... Here are some of the results!
