The organisation of the 2012 Festival of Sport is in full swing and the organisation committee is delivering on its aim to bring together sporting activities in the local area - we now have over 30 clubs attending on the day who will be holding displays, talking to the public about their sport and offering information about how you can get involved. The day will bring together the whole community
in a sports promotion event and showcase the huge variety of sports and activities that are available to the local population. We have had a huge response from local clubs and even some national ones too – in particular, we are really excited to have the Leicester Tiger’s Maul Vehicle attending the event. We will also be offering a licensed bar, BBQ, hot food, tea and cake stall, face painters, circus skills, bouncy castle, and a huge range of other stalls and attractions suitable for family entertainment that you would expect to see at a traditional village fete. This is a family event that promises to offer something for everyone, regardless of your age or interests! Newmarket Racecourses, the National Horseracing Museum and Forest Heath District Council are working in collaboration with the organisation committee to deliver this event and help make it a huge success. The organisation committee is made up of representatives from the Friends of St Louis, who are the parent body at St Louis Catholic primary School. All proceeds from the event will go towards providing outdoor play equipment and an all weather surface for the school. We will also be holding a flower festival and children’s photography competition at Our Lady and St Etheldreda Catholic Church on the weekend of 6th - 8th July to celebrate the arrival of the Olympic torch in Newmarket.
