St George’s Day Celebration! ⚜️⚜️⚜️

We enjoyed a great parade, a short service, and a very special presentation of top awards to those who achieved their Chief Scout’s Awards over the past year.

A huge well done to all our award recipients! You’ve done yourselves and your group proud 👏 💪🙌

Thank you to everyone who took part and supported the event. It was wonderful to come together and celebrate the spirit of Scouting!

Good morning, a quick message from our Lead Volunteer this morning:

In the wake of Girlguiding UK's announcement yesterday I just wanted to reaffirm that the Scout Association are open to All Genders, and 2nd Newmarket will support anyone impacted by the announcement. Please feel free to reach out, you are welcome here.

Many thanks,
Alex Stokes, Group Lead Volunteer

This update includes information you may find upsetting. Please take care when reading.

From today, it is with a heavy heart that we announce trans girls will no longer be able to join Girlguiding. This is a decision we would have preferred not to make, and we know that this may be upsetting for members of our community.

There will be no immediate changes for current young members, but more information will be shared soon. Most adult roles - including unit helpers, district helpers and administrative support - are already open to all, so we are confident that no volunteers will have to leave the organisation.

Girlguiding believes strongly in inclusion, and we will continue to support young people and adults in marginalised groups. Over the next few months, we will explore opportunities to champion this value and actively support young people who need us.

We stand in solidarity with trans girls and women. Read our statement in full here: https://www.girlguiding.org.uk/information-for-volunteers/updates-for-our-members/equality-diversity-policy-statement/.

🌟 What a Saturday! 🌟

On Saturday morning, our Cubs, Beavers, and Squirrels joined the Scouts for a full day of adventure. We were also proud to invest and welcome another young person into our group! 💚

The day was packed with activities — from a scavenger hunt, soft archery, and tomahawks, to the Squirrels trying out fire-lighting; wide games and campfire🔥. It was amazing to see everyone working together, having fun, showing their skills, and being kind to one another.

We truly have an incredible group of young people here at 2nd Newmarket, and we couldn’t be prouder! 💫

📸 Take a look at some of the highlights in the photos!

🌲✨ First Day of Camp ✨🌲

The Scouts were full of energy as we set up our tents and settled in. 🏕 We were proud to welcome a brand-new Scout into the group during our investiture ceremony. 👏

After inspecting the equipment and going through our safety policies, we rounded off the day with some well-deserved fish and chips. 🐟🍟
