Community consultation - Newmains MUGA

North Lanarkshire Council is proposing to install a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA) on a section of the red blaze pitch at West Crindledyke pitch area, Clark Street, Newmains.

The proposal would provide a new resource for young people enabling access to various types of ball sports such as football and basketball. A MUGA would be lined, enclosed with fencing, and would also have a surface that could be used in all weathers.

People in Newmains have welcomed the official launch of their first-ever five-year Community Action Plan.

Our Community Partnership Team worked with the Newmains Community Trust, Newmains and District Community Council and local people to develop a plan for the area. The key themes that emerged from engagement with the community are:

• Traffic and parking
• Work and local economy
• Social Interaction
• Care and maintenance
• Influence and sense of control

An action group, including key representatives from local organisations and people in the area, has been established to implement the plan’s actions and outcomes over the next 5 years of the plan.
