This morning at breakfast Nick Lazar, a trained actor and filmmaker, who heads up Vivify, spoke about the importance of natural and authentic performance in , particularly for business professionals.

As part of their production techniques🎥 , Vivify’s methods of directing and the art of screen acting, give their clients’ productions a professional edge.

The company offers various video services, from promotional to instructional, and stress the importance of professional equipment and editing for effective results. Thank you Nick for a very informative talk.

President of Newhaven Chamber, Mike Shorer, returned from an inspiring Japanese cultural experience.

In his 10 minute presentation this morning Mike said, "From exploring Osaka’s historic palace and tranquil Shinto shrines to riding the 🚅bullet train past Mount Fuji, Japan’s blend of ultra-modern cities and deep respect for tradition was amazing to see.

I even tried my hand at samurai blade ⚔ making and kendo, and I’m now working on jewellery and belt buckle designs inspired by traditional tsuba (sword guards). At home, I’m reshaping my garden into a Japanese-style space, complete with a sculpted “rock” feature and bonsai.

It’s been a powerful reminder of how craft, culture, and attention to detail can shape the spaces we live in and the communities we build." Thanks Mike Shorer Jewellery - the talk was pretty inspiring too, and the videos of Kendo and the Samurai sword play looked great fun! 🎎

Congratulations to Catherine Arlette Florist this morning who won the Oscar for the best 1 minute. A customer had congratulated her for her work in the community. She brought into our breakfast meeting a small model part of her work with Newhaven Young People's Forum. She enthusiastically described the young people as full of interest, and demonstrated the art of making floral crowns and two girls went on to decorate a show-stopping evening dress (pictured).

Big bands and Samurai - what a mix at breakfast this morning. Paul Meeching Estate Agents came along with Tony Still and Chris Hinman from Swing Swing Swing Big Band. The trio are only a 5th of the 17 strong band who play various local gigs bringing allive the music of the Big Band era. They are playing at the Meeching Hall Fundraiser - Friends of Meeching Hall on 26th June. Please buy tickets and support this local project!
