Newent Onion Fayre The modern Newent Onion Fayre ran for a very successful 24 years until the Covid pandemic in 2020. This years event will not be taking place.

We are pleased to announce the arrival of its successor NEWENT CELEBRATES, which takes place on the second weekend of September. Gloucestershire's largest FREE one day event. Held on the second Saturday of September, Newent is transformed. The world famous onion eating competition, an onion show (the only vegetable show in the country dedicated to the allium family), over 130 stalls, live music, a

dog show, a food festival, cookery demonstrations, fairground rides, street entertainment PLUS MUCH MORE! If you would like to know what's going on at the next Onion Fayre then like this page!! Just a quick (!) word about
PARKING ARRANGEMENTS this weekend.

SATURDAY:-
The recreation ground in Watery Lane and the big field by Cleeve Rise are the designated car parks and will be signposted as you approach the town.
Blue Badge holders will have access to the reserved parking area in the main Lewall St car park.
Please be considerate to local residents and use the official car parks if you are coming to the fair.
SUNDAY:-
Event parking will be in the Recreation Ground. Blue Badge parking will be in the school car park. There will be direction signs as you approach the town.

The cost for parking each day is only £5.
This payment helps to cover some of the enormous costs of putting on the event and covers the donation made to the community groups providing the volunteers in the car park. Please play fair, be nice, and don't clog the residential streets.

Finally, to those that need to get into town to visit shops, or have a hairdressing appointment etc. There are a number of spaces available for short term parking by the blue badge area. Access will depend upon availability of vacant spaces and access will be at the discretion of the stewards at the barrier. Please be nice to them and they will be nice to you!
Our apologies for any inconvenience you may experience this weekend. These arrangements are only in place for public safety.
