Memorial Service – In Remembrance of Those Lost at Sea

The Newcastle Harbour Heritage Association invites the community to attend a Memorial Service in remembrance of all those who perished at sea during the Newcastle Fishing Disaster of 13 January 1843, and all who have lost their lives at sea since.

This evening of reflection will honour Newcastle’s maritime heritage and remember generations whose lives were bound to the sea.

The Newcastle Harbour Heritage Association invites you to a fun-filled Quiz Night at Newcastle Community Cinema on Friday 14th November at 7.30pm! 🧠✨

🎯 All proceeds will go towards the creation of a new Community Hub at Newcastle Harbour — a space designed for everyone to enjoy, featuring a multipurpose room, kitchen, and toilet with shower facilities. 🚢

We were delighted to receive a donation of £1000 from Newcastle Athletics Club it was partly raised from the Mill Hill Mile race and brought up to the Thousand by their own donation. We really need the funds at the moment to get the outside of the Generator house finished including a sewage pumping station that could cost around £10,000 We really appreciate this thank you again.

A huge thank you to Newcastle Netball Club for their very kind donation of £550 from funds raised at their 2025 Netballathon!

Now that the dust has settled, we are absolutely over the moon to announce that this year's Netballathon has raised a phenomenal £𝟙𝟙𝟘𝟘!

We'd like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who participated, volunteered and donated for helping us make the event such a success. The funds raised will make such a huge difference to both our club, and to Newcastle Harbour Heritage Association

We already know that we've got the best members in the world, but every year you all continue to blow us away with your generosity, support and willingness to get stuck in and help out with whatever needs done!

We are unbelievably grateful to Irelands Appliance Centre Newcastle for their incredibly generous donation of a kettle, toaster, microwave, air fryer, washing machine, fridge freezer and cooker this morning.

These appliances will help us move one step closer to opening the old generator house as a brand new community hub for locals and visitors from across the seas!

Thank you very much to the Newcastle County Down Lions for their generosity. This lovely donation will bring us closer to completion of our Harbour hub at the old generator house.

Newcastle Lions Make donation to Newcastle Harbour Heritage Association
Newcastle Lions have presented a cheque for £250 to Newcastle Harbour Heritage Association. The Association is currently refurbishing the old generator house of the sewage works. The goal is to provide a facility to give swimmers in the harbour dignity when changing. It is also hoped to provide a warm space to aid mental health and to provide an educational facility or education hub for Newcastle. Lions Clubs in District 133 Ireland have areas of focus for their service projects and Mental Health and Wellbeing is a new focus for 2025-2026.
