This morning we were joined by friends of Smart Works North East to celebrate ahead of International Day of the Girl✨

Our wonderful Outreach Lead, Ruby, shared about her experience presenting to Alan Milburn MP as part of research informing the Milburn Review, an ongoing investigation into youth unemployment across the UK. She spoke about the support that Smart Works North East provides for young people not in education, employment or training, as they face challenges in their job search.

39% of the clients that Smart Works North East have supported in the last year have been under the age of 25. Young people continue to be a priority in our strategy, as we recognise it is a ‘lack of opportunity and not a matter of attitude’.

Thank you to everyone who came along and supported us by shopping or donating. Not just this morning but over both days of our sale🩵

As you know by now we love to round off a working week with some good news...

So, we are delighted to share our client Hannah* got the job as a Cleaner🎉

We asked Hannah* about her experience with us, and she said: 'I love that everyone is so friendly and understanding. Eileen was very nice to me and helped a lot with finding an outfit for me and she actually took her time to find things that I would like. The clothes are really nice.'

We're so glad we got to play a part in your success Hannah*. Good luck!

We get it, decluttering your wardrobe feels good. But before you list that barely-worn blazer for £5 on Vinted (and spend hours dealing with ghosted buyers and the odd scammer) consider this:

✨ Donate your high-quality pieces to Smart Works North East and you're not just clearing space, you're helping a woman walk into a job interview feeling confident and ready to succeed.

Every item you give us goes towards helping women get back into work, which is an impact no Vinted sale can match.

Your wardrobe refresh could be someone else's fresh start🌟

The dressing room is where magic happens, when a client puts on an outfit that makes them feel confident and ready to take on their interview💫

Occasionally, you'll also support the Wardrobe Team by sorting retail donations for our client wardrobe and fashion sales.

🩵Shortlisted applicants will be invited to an open evening at our Smart Works North East centre on Wednesday 21st October, 4-6pm
