Our client feedback helps shape our service. When our clients leave feeling confident in themselves we know what we’re doing is working.

‘Throughout this whole process everyone has been brilliant, from showing me how to improve my CV, to talking me through interviews and how to use the STAR method and even finding me clothes that made me feel good in myself. It helped boost my confidence which was nonexistent after a tough redundancy process’.

https://tr.ee/Zh6vZpc1CToday marks the launch of our first ever regional index: The Gendered Reality of Job Seeking as a Woman in the North East.

The report combines data and lived experience from women who've engaged with our service while job searching.

Findings show: Women are increasing the time and effort towards job searching. Yet confidence levels and job success rates are declining.

Why is this?
Recruitment processes are designed without women's realities in mind.
But despite regional challenges:
⚡ 63% of clients secure employment after visiting Smart Works.
⚡ 98% report increased confidence in their abilities.
Showing our approach of using tailored support to empower women works.

Our region is full of talented women who want to work.
Employers and recruitment systems must meet them halfway.
We invite everyone, including employers and partners to read the Index and be part of the solution.

Her Sense of Purpose | Meet our panellists

Kacie Elson went from playing football with the boys in the school playground to pulling on the black and white shirt in Tier 4 and earning her first full-time professional contract. Kacie’s footballing journey has been the stuff of childhood dreams. She went on to play a key role in Newcastle United Women’s rise through the leagues, contributing to their journey towards WSL2 and experiencing countless highs along the way.

Stepping away from the game was not an easy decision, but Kacie has embraced the next chapter with the same passion and determination. She is now thriving in the corporate world, pursuing a career she loves just as much as football.
