Northern Futures participants took part in mock interviews at Delta Hotels by Marriott Durham Royal County, gaining an insight into the hospitality industry and what to expect during a real recruitment process.

With individual feedback and practical experience, participants developed their interview skills, recognised their strengths and took a positive step towards future employment opportunities. 🙌

🦺 Last week, we had 11 young people take part in an insight session into Event Safety Stewarding at Beamish Football Centre, exploring the industry and local opportunities.

Those interested will go on to complete a four-session course covering:

Legislation
Health and safety
Conflict management

The course will help them work towards becoming qualified Event Safety Stewards, with ad hoc paid work opportunities available locally for those who qualify! 👏

We recently visited PTS in Newcastle to explore the range of roles in the plumbing industry and career opportunities across the business. The visit included a tour of the facility, with a focus on warehousing and the wider operations that keep the business running.

A brilliant day at ! 🐾

Some of our Northern Futures participants had the amazing opportunity to visit Daycare4Paws, where Natalie gave them a really informative insight into her career journey on finding a role she absolutely loves.

Natalie spoke about what life is like working in animal care, what her role involves and the responsibilities that come with caring for the dogs. It was a great opportunity for our participants to learn more about a different career path and see what working with animals can really look like.

And, of course, the best part… time with the dogs!🐶🐕 Everyone had the chance to spend time with the dogs at the daycare and learn more about different breeds, caring for them and understanding their needs.

It was especially valuable for participants who are interested in working with animals, as well as those who are hoping to get a dog of their own in the future.

A huge thank you to Natalie and Jess for such a welcoming, informative and enjoyable experience. It was an amazing opportunity for our participants, and we’re so grateful you took the time to share your knowledge and experience with us! 🐾

They recently visited the site to explore volunteering opportunities, build their confidence and discover how their skills and interests could support their future.
