Junction 42 exists to see the lives of offenders and their communities visibly transformed by
hope. We create communities, encourage independence and empower transformation in lives across the North East of England. Working primarily with those in prison and upon their release as well as their family and friends, Junction 42 is a charity with a difference, making a difference. Our aim is simple;

to offer support and hope to those who need it most. We primarily work with offenders and ex-offenders being experienced providers of support both in custody and in the community. Having a history of offending often creates additional barriers to social inclusion, employability and independence. Junction 42 exists to help people overcome these barriers, through education, employment, on-going support, developing faith and nurturing supportive communities. Working in prisons we provide educational workshops, using creative micro businesses that allow individuals to put their skills into practice whilst working towards a qualification. We also work with individuals through our out reach and faith based group work, which links into the Connect community groups. We facilitate a range of support groups meeting weekly in Newcastle and Durham, combining these with individual mentors. With more than 15 years experience of working in prisons and with offenders in the community, we are in it for the long haul and know that although the first few weeks can be the hardest, helping people into sustainable, crime and addiction free independence can also require years of dedication. But seeing lives set free, transformed and empowered is the reason we exist.

Stories like this remind us why Stories of Hope matters.

One Chaplain told us that one prisoner plays the worship CD from the pack every morning — shouting down the wing, “Are we ready for a worship song?” Others join in. For a few minutes, the whole place lifts. A simple moment of hope in a tough environment.

There's 3 days left of our campaign! A reminder that, your monthly donation is doubled for 12 months when set up through our campaign page — helping you bring hope into even more wings and more lives.

Your monthly support makes a real and lasting difference.

A gift of £20 a month enables us to reach 120 prisoners every year with our Stories of Hope resources — providing encouragement, faith and support right where it’s needed most.

And this December, your monthly donation is doubled for an entire year.
That means your £20 a month could instead help us reach 240 prisoners in 2026.

Hope grows when we give — and this month, it grows twice as far. ✨

“Receiving the Stories of Hope pack made me feel remembered and supported — it gave me hope when I needed it most.”

This is why we do what we do.

Stories of Hope is reaching men and women in some of the toughest moments of their lives — offering hope, faith and the reminder that they still matter.

From 2nd–25th December, when you set up a monthly donation through our campaign page, your gift is doubled for the first 12 months. If you already give, increasing your monthly donation unlocks the same match funding.

Your monthly support helps us get these packs into more hands, every quarter.

🎉 We’re really excited to launch our Christmas campaign: Your Donation, Doubled! 🎉

From now until Christmas Day, when you set up a monthly donation through our campaign page, it will be doubled for the first 12 months. It’s a simple way to make your support go even further for an entire year!

And if you already give monthly, if you increase your current donation, this will also be doubled for 12 months — a brilliant chance to boost your impact.

Your money will help us raise vital funds for our Stories of Hope resources, which continues to grow and now reaches 23% of the prison population every quarter. Your support helps us keep expanding its reach and providing encouragement, faith and renewed purpose to those in prison.

Here’s what your gift can do:
£20 a month helps us reach 120 prisoners over a year and with the match funding, that impact doubles!

Together, we can share hope further than ever this Christmas.

As Prisons Week 2025 comes to a close, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has joined us in prayer this week.

Together, we have prayed for prisoners, their families, victims, staff, chaplains, and all those working to bring hope and transformation across our justice system.

Your prayers and support remind us that no life is beyond hope, and that God’s love reaches behind every wall and into every heart.

Let’s continue to walk in hope — believing that lives can be restored and communities renewed.

Day Seven of 2025

Today’s prayer comes from Ann, a prisoner’s daughter, reminding us that imprisonment impacts far more than those behind bars — it touches families, children, and communities too.

As Prisons Week draws to a close, we pray for God’s grace, mercy, and love to be poured out over every life affected by imprisonment. May eyes be opened to the “hidden victims” of justice, and may all know that the Good News is for them.

How can we extend compassion to those often unseen or unheard within the justice system?

Day Six of 2025

Today’s prayer is written by JP, a magistrate, reminding us to pray for wisdom, clarity and grace for those in authority — especially judges and magistrates who make difficult decisions every day.

We also remember those who feel broken or without hope within the judicial system, asking that integrity, humility, and compassion would shape every part of justice.

How can we show grace and fairness in our own decisions and interactions this week?

Day Five of 2025

Today’s prayer comes from Lynda, sharing a victim’s perspective. It reminds us of God’s power to bring freedom, healing, and light into places of darkness.

As we continue this week of prayer, we lift up those in prison who don’t yet know God’s love — praying that hearts would be softened, lives changed, and hope restored.

Where have you seen God bring light and freedom into difficult places or situations?

Day Four of 2025

Today’s prayer, written by Susie, a former prison governor, reflects on God’s constant presence — even within prison walls.

Whether we try to manage in our own strength or choose to let go and trust Him, we’re reminded that God’s love is never restricted or chained.

When have you experienced strength in letting go and trusting God’s timing or purpose?
