Junction 42 exists to see the lives of offenders, ex-offenders and their communities visibly transformed by hope. When we say community, we really mean it.

Junction 42 exists to see the lives of offenders and their communities visibly transformed by
hope. We create communities, encourage independence and empower transformation in lives across the North East of England. Working primarily with those in prison and upon their release as well as their family and friends, Junction 42 is a charity with a difference, making a difference. Our aim is simple; to offer support and hope to those who need it most. We primarily work with offenders and ex-offenders being experienced providers of support both in custody and in the community. Having a history of offending often creates additional barriers to social inclusion, employability and independence. Junction 42 exists to help people overcome these barriers, through education, employment, on-going support, developing faith and nurturing supportive communities. Working in prisons we provide educational workshops, using creative micro businesses that allow individuals to put their skills into practice whilst working towards a qualification. We also work with individuals through our out reach and faith based group work, which links into the Connect community groups. We facilitate a range of support groups meeting weekly in Newcastle and Durham, combining these with individual mentors. With more than 15 years experience of working in prisons and with offenders in the community, we are in it for the long haul and know that although the first few weeks can be the hardest, helping people into sustainable, crime and addiction free independence can also require years of dedication. But seeing lives set free, transformed and empowered is the reason we exist.

Prisons Week – Day 7 | Assemblies of God GB

As Prisons Week draws to a close, today's reflection reminds us of a powerful truth: we don't have to fix ourselves before responding to God's invitation.

For many people, guilt and shame can feel overwhelming, creating barriers that seem impossible to overcome. Yet God's grace meets us exactly where we are. His invitation comes first, and transformation follows.

As we pray today, let's remember those in prison who may be struggling with shame, hopelessness or isolation, and ask that they would encounter the life-changing grace of Jesus.

🙏 Today's prayer:

"Lord God, thank you that we do not need to prepare ourselves to come. Everything has been done by Jesus at the cross. May the invitation continue to be given day in and day out in every prison in this country, that many more would hear, respond, and simply come. Amen."

Prisons Week – Day 6 | Caring for Ex-Offenders

Today's reflection reminds us that God's invitation is persistent, gracious, and open to all.

In the parable of the wedding banquet, the King continues to extend the invitation, even when it is rejected. In the same way, we are called to keep sharing the hope of Jesus, trusting in His power to transform lives.

We never know whose heart may be ready to receive that invitation. Our role is simply to keep extending it with love, grace and an open heart.

🙏 Today's prayer:

"Lord, I thank you for your servants who shared the invitation of Jesus with me. Please help me to serve you also by sharing your invitation with the people in my own life, bad and good alike, believing that through an open heart, your transforming power will begin to work in their lives. Amen."

Prisons Week – Day 5 | Langley Trust

Today's reflection from Langley Trust reminds us that God's welcome can be life-changing for those who have experienced exclusion, rejection or isolation.

The King's invitation is extended to all, bringing dignity, belonging and hope. As people encounter God's love, lives can be transformed and communities can be renewed.

Prisons Week – Day 4 | Junction 42

Today we're honoured to be contributing to Prisons Week 2026 as part of this year's theme: All Are Invited.

At Junction 42, we see daily that God's invitation isn't based on someone's past, status, or history. It's an invitation into hope, dignity, belonging, and a new identity in Christ.

We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to find their place at the table, and we're privileged to walk alongside people as they rebuild their lives and rediscover hope.

🙏 Today's prayer:

"Father, thank you that your invitation reaches us regardless of our past. Forgive us when we forget the power of your gospel, the depth of your love and the wisdom of your word. Help us to reflect your heart of welcome to those who feel excluded or forgotten. Give us compassion, courage, and wisdom to walk alongside others. May lives be restored, hope renewed, and your Kingdom made visible. In Jesus' name. Amen."

Prisons Week - Day 3 | The Welcome Directory

Today's theme challenges us to consider what true welcome really looks like.

Jesus' parable of the wedding banquet reminds us that God's invitation is extended widely, especially to those who might otherwise be overlooked or excluded. For many people leaving prison, finding acceptance and belonging can be one of the biggest challenges they face.

As followers of Christ, we're called not just to open our doors, but to create communities where people can truly belong, grow and flourish.

"Lord, we pray that you would inspire all churches to be places of radical hospitality where all people can find a safe welcome and be transformed by your Spirit and grow into the likeness of Christ our Lord. Amen."

Prisons Week - Day 2 | Bible Society

Today's theme reminds us that the Bible is an invitation for everyone.

An invitation to hope. An invitation to belonging. An invitation to discover God's love and purpose, whatever our past or circumstances.

As we pray today, let's remember people in prison and all those affected by the criminal justice system. Pray that they would have access to God's Word, encounter Jesus through its message, and find hope, restoration and community.

"To be invited is to be wanted. Who we were matters, but who we become and are becoming in Christ matters even more."

🙏 Join us in praying: "Lord, thank you for inviting us to your table and seeking us out when we are lost. May your Word take root in our lives and bring its message of love and salvation to all. Amen."

This year's theme, "All Are Invited", is a powerful reminder that every person is created in God's image and has a place in God's story of restoration.

As we begin this week of prayer, join us in praying:

"God of welcome and restoration, transform us within to look not with judgment, but with hopeful and hospitable hearts..."

Let us pray for those in prison, their families, victims of crime, prison staff, chaplains, volunteers, and churches seeking to share hope behind prison walls.
