Jesmond Library Jesmond Library officially re-opened on Saturday 21 September 2013, managed and staffed entirely by volunteers. Come and join us!

Jesmond Library was officially opened on 30 May 1963. Ironically the council decided to close the library as part of a series of funding cuts on 30th June 2013, just over 50 years after opening. The Friends of Jesmond Library are a group of volunteers who came together to save the much loved library and have now re-opened it as a community hub to maintain and enhance the free library services, and also expand the activities in reflection of the wishes of the local residents and library users. Jesmond Library are looking for volunteers, supporters and donors.
