Refugee Biryani & Bananas (RBB) is group of friends and individuals, who are committed to volunteering and supporting those in crisis and suffering. We provide urgent aid and basic necessities to the people we are supporting in terms of food, water, shelter, season specific aid i.e. firewood in the winter and mosquito repellent in the summer, hygiene kits, medical aid and baby products as well as

morale boosting activities. We are currently supporting refugees and asylum seekers on the Greek Island of Chios where there is over 4500 people, majority of whom live in tents and make shift shelters in Vial Refugee Camp. | ‼️ This group of 15 people are in urgent need of help after arriving on the island of Ikaria. There are people who are sick and disabled also.

THEY WOUKD LIKE TO SEEK ASYLUM IN GREECE. WE HAVE REPORTED THEIR ARRIVAL TO THE RELEVANT AUTHORITIES AND CALL ON THEIR IMMEDIATE RESCUE AND SAFE TRANSFER TO A CAMP (CCAC), OR HOSPITAL WHEN THEY CALL 112 - The EMERGENCY LINE FOR EUROPE.

We’ve been asked to post on socials by these people. Our posts tag relevant, concerned agencies to raise awareness of their arrival in Europe. This, in turn, increases the people’s chances of survival, remaining in Greece and not being unlawfully, and potentially violently, pushed back to Turkey.

Eid Mubarak 🤎

Today looks different for many in our communities — in Palestine, Sudan, Congo, Yemen, Lebanon, Iran, and beyond.

For some, it is a day of prayer.
For others, a day of remembering.
For many, it is both.

Eid is held in different ways, across places, cultures, and experiences — but it is always rooted in community.

We are thinking of everyone marking Eid in displacement, in uncertainty, and in places that no longer feel like home — and of those holding onto community, wherever they are.

Eid is not only celebration.
It is also reflection, connection, and holding one another close across borders and distance.

They seem to be from the following nationalities: Afghanistan, Ertirea, Ethiopia, Sudan and Somalia (unconfirmed)

“In Ramadan, even the quietest acts of kindness are multiplied beyond what we can imagine.”

As the final nights of Ramadan approach, many of our Muslim supporters, friends, and team members are observing a deeply spiritual time of reflection, prayer, and generosity.

Across the world, this period is often when people give what they can to support others in need.

In North Gaza, families are continuing to navigate extremely difficult conditions. Through our team on the ground, we are working to provide food parcels for families in the north during the final days of Ramadan and into Eid.

Tomorrow we will be sending funds so our team can prepare distributions. At the same time, we are slowly registering households in North Gaza, keeping track so that over time we can reach as many families as possible and ensure support is shared out - everyone is in need.

Over the past six months, this work has included food parcel distributions, water trucking, and sending a truck of flour from Jerusalem to communities facing severe shortages.

For those observing Ramadan and choosing to give during these final nights, your support helps us continue this work.

Today was our sister Greentea Peng’s last day volunteering with us on the ground in Cairo.

Over the past week she spent time with our team supporting the purchase and distribution of essential aid and food parcels for people displaced from Sudan, Yemen, South Sudan, and Palestine who are currently in Egypt.

From visiting communities to helping prepare and distribute supplies, she gave her time with sincerity, care, and a genuine willingness to stand alongside people during a very difficult time.

Moments like these remind us how powerful it can be when people use their platform and presence to show up, listen, and contribute in meaningful ways.

Thank you for standing with the community and our team this week. We hope to welcome you back again soon 🧡
