Thank you to our Board of Trustees

Dear Skimstone and FB Friend,

Skimstone Arts has now formally closed after celebrating our 18 year journey of working with amazing regional, national and international artists, arts projects and communities.

We wish to celebrate the fantastic behind the scenes work of our Board of Trustees, led by Simon James, our very special Chair.
From April 2023 we have worked together with this dedicated Board of Trustees, who have shown great care, understanding, responsibility and commitment, along with such an incredible amount of skill and knowledge.

We are very grateful to Simon James, Carol Candler, Lya Vollering, Jess Johnson, Talha Ozleblebici and Angela Mortimer for guiding and supporting us on this final journey.
Also..a big thank you to Julie Maxwell, our Financial Administrator.

We celebrated with a final AGM and Board Meeting, an exchange of gifts, including Carol’s amazing knitted jumper for Claire, and a recorded video for Claire and Peter by each Trustee.

We finished with a lovely meal at Kiln Cafe in the Ouseburn Valley.

A very special way to celebrate great leadership and governance.

Join us today from 2pm for our Celebration Party at The Start and Shadow Cinema. We have commissioned artist, poet, musician and educator David Stickman Higgins to lead us in joyful word play and body rhythms in all age warm ups, before he joins the Skimstone Arts Ensemble band, where we end the night with uplifting and genre defying songs, getting us dancing together in UNITY!

The Upstartz have been busy recoding their album at Blank Studios!

The Upstartz is a band formed at St Anthony's Day Center, and they will be performing at our Celebration Party, 14 November at the Star and Shadow, to launch their new album. Come and join us on 14 November to see this amazing band perform and to get your own CD!

Hidden Worlds- The Final Journey, Reality Boots album is nearly finished! Over the past few weeks we've welcomed different partners into Blank Studios to record collaboratively written songs.

It's been a fantastic journey from the initial writing stages all the way to recording the songs. It's been wonderful to see the development of so many different young peoples songwriting skills and to see their confidence to deliver their parts in a professional studio. A big well done to all involved!
