Residents at our Holy Cross Nursing Home in Sunderland enjoyed an afternoon tea with a difference when our Wellbeing Co-ordinators arranged an afternoon with a distinctly Alice in Wonderland feel.
The colourful occasion provided plenty of fun, with residents keen to join in by wearing a variety of hats decorated with playing cards, rabbit ears and watches, while our Wellbeing Co-ordinators looked impressive dressed as the Queen of Hearts and Mad Hatter.
And, of course, no trip to Wonderland would have been complete without a tea party.
A tantalising afternoon tea of sandwiches, cakes, fruit, scones and biscuits was served at themed tables, with plenty of teapots filled with refreshing tea. With an entertainer encouraging residents to join in with some favourite songs, it all added up to a colourful and thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.
Our teams at Holy Cross always make sure mealtimes are enjoyable and appetising while special occasions like this bring a little extra to support with good nutrition and hydration for our residents. Manager of Holy Cross, Emma, said:
“We’re always looking for different ways to make life at Holy Cross the best it can be for our residents. Food is such an important part of occasions like this and, when we make it part of the fun, it gives our residents even more reason to look forward to what’s on the menu. All in all, it was a wonderful afternoon.”
