Hello everyone đź’›

Sometimes things just conspire against us… several of our team of staff and volunteers have suddenly gone down with what looks like norovirus, so we’ve had to make the difficult decision to close for at least the next 48 hours.

We’re so sorry to cancel, but the safety and wellbeing of everyone in our community has to come first.

We’ll keep you updated and let you know as soon as we’re well enough to reopen.

Thank you so much for your understanding — we will make the calls tomorrow morning but please do share this so everyone sees it 🙏

Our Kelly Smith delivering Scam awareness training to our Monday Cafe members today. Kelly’s background as a financial investigator involved delivering this training in the past across the Northeast - we are very lucky and grateful to have her skills to ensure this vitally important topic is shared with our group members so they can keep safe from scammers.

This Small Charity Week (22–29 June), Silverline Memories is proud to be part of a national celebration of the vital role small charities play in communities across the UK.

This year’s campaign, Small charities. Big impact, shines a light on the difference small charities make every day, supporting people, strengthening communities and creating change where it matters most.

In Newcastle-upon-Tyne, small charities like Silverline Memories play a crucial role in supporting those who live with Dementia and their carers to feel well-supported, less lonely and better able to cope.

Small charities are where change really happens. They are rooted in their communities, responding quickly to local needs and providing support that fits real people and real places.

At a time when many communities are facing increasing pressure, their role has never been more important.

We’d love you to consider nominating us for the North East Charity Awards as the North East Charity of the Year.

Since 2013 we’ve been providing places to go and things to do for people living with Dementia, and their carers.

This work has a direct impact on those people.

We starting in small gatherings for social activities and now we have increased our size and impact substantially, opening the Dementia Activity Centre which has recently had a refurbishment and doubled in size!

We have a fantastic team of 25 volunteers and 6 staff and run a timetable of activities at the centre five days a week including the Dementia Cafe, Jubilee Choir, Silverline Arms Mens Group, Daycare and Feel Good Fridays. We have trips out and special guests who run exciting and varied activities to keep members engaged.

We are a lifeline in our community. Accepting those with Dementia and those who support them without judgement and with love.
